I am also puzzled by the "translate" option which is in cell D23 and described as "192 Translation". It also shows up in cell D21 (00800 Allowed) and cell D30 (Dialler Override) and is presumably describing which provider is being used. Perhaps you (or Heinz, who I presume wrote the original rule) could enlighten us as to what this "translation" means in practice and what carrier it refers to.
Incidentally, I am using an Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem on my Medion desktop running XP and it seems to be working perfectly with your excellent Excel program.0 -

That doesn't matter though because the correct letters are used in column I and, more importantly, the correct associated numbers (1 = Bar, 2 = Exception, 3 = Allow, 4 = Local, 5 = Translate and 6 = Special) are correctly used in the program strings in column M.
However, I'm having trouble reconciling the cell numbers you quote with the table. I find the cell which relates to the dialling of 192 is not D23 but Row 27 (columns F to M inclusive). Column M shows the programming string to be *###192#5444#27# and that means that, at all times, the dialling of the digits 192 results, by Translation (Handling Code 5), in the Orchid dialling Carrier Code 4 (1280#0800100100).
Similarly, I cannot reconciling the cell number you quote (D21) for 00800 with the table. I find the row which relates to the dialling of 00800 in Row 20, columns F to M inclusive. That shows the string *###00800#3333#20# and means that, at all times, the dialling of the digits 00800 results in the Orchid inserting the 1280 prefix (Carrier Code 3).
With regard to Dialler Override (121), I find that in Row 23 but I have no idea why it uses the T (5) Handling Code. It's unique anyway and it works so I've never worried about it.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Cor!
I never noticed the transposition of the labels, I havn't looked at that lookup table since I put the spreadsheet together.
I have corrected them on my copy and next time I upload a copy it will have the changes incorporated
As Heinz says however, the typo does not stop the spreadsheet calculating the dial strings appropriatly0 -
Sorry Heinz and Kevin about the errors in my description of the Excel cells. The rows in question are indeed rows 22, 23 and 27.
I would still be interested to know what this "Translation" refers to e.g. if I were to dial 192 at any time of day (showing routing rule 4 for all times) who would my call be going through?
I have a BT line rental, am registered with 18185, 1899 and have Primus as my CPS.
Many thanks0 -

Dialling 192 would be translated to 1280#0800100100 at all times (Carrier Code 4 weekdays, evenings and weekends).
1280 causes the call to 'hop back onto' BT, the # causes a 1 second pause and then the freephone number is dialled.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. First of all, big thanks to Kevin for taking the time to write this spreadsheet and macros.
I was using the Heinz program and getting it to dial home, but since that has gone, I had no easy way to program the dialer. I always wanted to add some of my own rules, but it looked too difficult. But looking at your spreadsheet has made it much easier to understand!
I have a couple of questions:- Some routes use carrier code 0. I assume this just dials the number straight out rather than using anything clever like 18185?
- I'm a bit confused why the rule for 121 uses Translation. Shouldn't it just be Allowed??
- What does E (Exclusion/Exception) mean? I've read the manual from Orchid, but I'm still not clear what it means.
- Does it matter in what order the rules are set? I want one rule for international 00 calls and another for Portugal 00351.
- Do all the rules need to be together, or could I leave a gap, say use rule slots 1-28, then add a rule to slot 99, or do I have to add it to the next available number, e.g. 29?
- Is there a way to delete a single rule, or do I need to clear the entire routing table to delete a rule?
- The Advanced Reset Rqd cell is locked on the config page. Is this on purpose? And should it be set to 1 by default?

First, many thanks to Kevin for the Excel utility - works with my Toshiba laptop:T
But my V4 seemed prone to losing the time, so I seem to remember following someone's advice to make sure it would dial home if it's BT connection was interrupted. I'm not aware that it ever did automatically dial home, but how can I prevent it from trying to do that in future?0 -
Having finally found out from this forum why CWClient wasn't working anymore(!) I'm now trying to get to grips with reprogramming again to tweak the routing table.
Unfortunately I have no record of the existing routing table. Is there any way of extracting the existing table from the dialler itself?
I noticed that there is a file called DlgCash.dat in the CWClient folder which is dated when I last changed the routing table. Does this contain the info and is it possible to extract it?
I've tried emailing Orchid to see if they can provide, but no response (not surprisingly).
Once I've worked out the changes to the table I'll have a shot at hooking up a modem and getting the spreadsheet configurer working. Sounds a great little product!
Thanks for any help.0 -

On the contrary, that is surprising because I know Toby and Maggie have been supplying exactly that information to others in a similar position.
Unless you're going to clear the whole program and start again, I'd say it is essential you know what your current program is before you attempt any changes.
AIUI, all you need to do is provide them with the serial number of your dialler and they will send you the details of your last program download.
I'd suggest you give them a call instead of an email. 01572 717 888Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
