  • My trusted Orchid box seems to have gone to meet its maker. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a new one? The OH is quite used to having one and I don't fancy having a long list of numbers to update...

I'd be interested to know whether anyone has successfully used an Orchid dialler and a TrueCall call blocker on the same line.

    If so:
    Did they both work ok?
In what order did you connect them?
Were there any issues with programming codes intended for one being intercepted by the other?
    Any other issues?

I'm getting very fed up with unsolicited calls - being registered with TPS does little to stop them - and am seriously considering buying a TrueCall call blocker, but need to be sure that it can co-exist with the Orchid ok. I've asked TrueCall, but they "have no experience of this combination"!
    Cheers,
    Roger

One just came onto Ebay yesterday (no, not mine).

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have the cpr call blocker (poor
man's truecall) with the orchid (neither use their own power supply) and both work perfectly.

Thanks! I suppose "Google is your friend" could be joined by "eBay (search) is your friend"...I'll keep an eye on it. Will actually be quite interesting to see how much one goes for nowadays - I reckon our circle of users is dwindling so I hope to pick it up cheap!

I like to keep an eye on the going price too (I have 3 spares so am not immune to being tempted) - so I have a saved search with email notification.

Me! Me! Me! Ask me, please!

    My setup is:
BT socket ---> ADSL Filter ---> Orchid Box---> trueCall Box ---> DECT Base Station

Works fine. A certain other forum member programmed my Orchid for me.

    ME too - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/57342963#Comment_57342963

Wired as above ( except no ADSL filter - I'm on Virgin ) , only problem is that the Truecall box could not dial out to do it's autoupdate to use the web interface - I did tell truecall about this.

As a fix I temporarily plug the truecall box directly into the wall socket ( using a doubler to save unplugging the orchid ) and do a manual update at weekends - it dials a standard phone number.

The latest truecall box is a different version to mine so things may have changed.

Worth doing - in the last 4 weeks about 20% of incoming calls were blocked, either by breakthrough or whisper, the current truecall software is better in that it can be more fine tuned, unfortunately old boxes cannot be updated.

I have just activated a Truecall box, and come to the conclusion I have to stop using the Orchid.

With the configuration above, the Trucall doesn't do a web-link, so won't pick up settings. (Don't want to program manually.)

Swapping the order results in no dial tone on the phone!

I wonder if there's anyway to get these both working together fully, or alternatively some other simpler dialler that would always try to go via 18185?
