Orchid V4, V4+ Programing Tool Support

I have just done an update to my Orchid v4 for the first time in years and used the Kevin Lawry Excel tool. It looks really good and much less daunting than the original Orchid tool via the server. Kevin's tool (if you pardon the expression) is very handy in that it just has simple options for clearing existing data first and updating specific tables.
The downside is that I cannnot see what is in the Orchid. So did it update properly ? Does anyone have a means of reporting what is in Orchid ?
I have weekends set to use the CPS override .... but they are still going by 18185, so I am not totally convinced it worked.
I used the laptop as I know the modem works (Thinkpad modem). When updating the entire routing table, it re-dialled after every entry - the Orchid light came on each time. Can anyone tell me if this is normal ?0 -
Normally a day/date/time problem.

Yes the LED glows at each carrier or routing rule update.
Sorry, I forgot to mention regarding the "can't see the program" problem; there's no way around that but what I do as a partial check is add an 'odd' routing rule (at the end of my list of 20 or so) that I can use to test that the last Routing Rule has been reached and successfully downloaded. I insert a Carrier which is just my own mobile number and then make the 'odd' Routing Rule one to Translate the dialling of, say, the digits 88 to dial that 'own mobile Carrier'.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks Heinz.
I had updated the date and time from the spreadsheet, but perhaps it didn't work. I just did it again manually and I shall see how it goes.
It seems it didn't know what day it was ...
Many thanks to Kevin Lawry ! :T0 -
You are very welcome :-)0

I use one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FSK-DTMF-Caller-ID-Box-Cable-Mobile-Phone-Display-/280437181087
It's a nice cheap caller ID device (CLI decoder), but it also reads the DTMF signals that are being sent to the line.
Thus you can connect it (1) between modem and dialler, to verify the setup codes that are being sent to the dialler, and (2) between dialler and phone line, to verify that the correct result is being sent to line by the dialler.
This should provide you with all the reassurance you need that your dialler is being correctly programmed, and that it is subsequently dialling correctly. Plus, if you don't already have CLI decoding on your phones, you can see who is calling you. In my view, all this is worth a few pounds.

Thank you - I might well invest ...:)0 -
I also insert my own mobile number as an additional carrier (7) and an additional routing rule making the dialling of the digits 88 to be translated to use carrier 7 at all times.
If the download is successful, dialling 88 rings my mobile! Simples!
My 'special' routing rule is rule number 33 and is programmed with the string:
* # # 88 # 5 7 7 7 # 33 #
I have put my mobile number (07799
) into cell B6, 'Mobile test' into C6 and D7 shows '*#**07799
*6'. In G29, I have entered '88', in H29 I've entered 'Mobile test', I29 has 'T', J29 has '6', K29 has '6' and L29 has '6' entered. M29 shows '*###88#5666#29#'.
Anyone any idea on where I've gone wrong?

It should indeed be D6. Good job one of us is awake!digital0

Was that the problem then? You were manually inputting the codes into a table (rather than allowing MS Excel to produce the programming string automatically) and made a fat finger mistake with one?
The problem was that when I dialled 88 on my landline I got a 'number not recognised' response from BT rather than my mobile ringing.
Just to repeat how I set the spreadsheet up (correctly reported this time!):
