I do actually click on all 3 of the buttons (not the "Advanced" button) when I update so am not sure why I was getting the problem.
Hopefully all is well now and I may, in future, so a manual update for the time.
Thanks0 -
Just found this thread and it looks extremely useful. When I got the dialler 5 years ago I programmed in Call18866 for everything. I've just changed provider and now have inclusive evening and weekend calls so would naturally like to use them for those periods.
The only documentation I have is a two A4 sheets Programming Guide which doesn't show all the codes. As I don't have Excel or a modem I would like to use the phone keypad to update things. Does anyone have a copy of the full manual, pretty please? Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

It may be best if you start by :
(1). Clearing the entire Carrier Codes table by keying in **#0000*2222*6
(2). Clearing all existing Routing Rules by keying in **#0000*1111*6
Of course, Kevin Lawry's Excel file will give you the best information on V4 programming and, as you don't have Excel available, I have uploaded a version onto Googledocs - see HERE (columns D and M show examples of programming strings - from which you should be able to work out what you need to key for your own program). Ignore Routing Codes 23 onwards - they appear to have been corrupted in the process.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Double-thanks, Heinz. I thanked you before your edit, now I'm thanking you afterwards. :TAre you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I'm afraid I'm still struggling with the manual programming.
To recap, I had been routing ALL calls via Call18866 and now I want to not use them for evening and weekend UK calls. I don't have a modem or Excel.
I have used the document that Heinz uploaded to Googledocs as a template/guide but the dialler doesn't want to play ball.
A couple of questions:- Is it possible that I have a different firmware version? I bought mine in June 2005.
- I used to be able to dial 121 to bypass the dialler; this would give a dial tone right away. Now when I dial 121 I get silence. Has anyone else encountered this?

Are you sure you have a V4 dialler and not a V2?
On the V4, I have never found dialling 121 gets a dial tone. In my experience, it tells the dialler just to let the dialled digits which immediately follow pass to the line without any programmed routing.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Sorry to be such a pain. Are you sure you have a V4 dialler and not a V2?
Definitely a V4 but the Programming Guide seems different to yours. See HERE.On the V4, I have never found dialling 121 gets a dial tone. In my experience, it tells the dialler just to let the dialled digits which immediately follow pass to the line without any programmed routing.
If I programed a pause after 121 I used to hear a different tone before the actual number was dialled. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I think that Programming Guide was the predecessor to the 2008 version I posted on Googledocs.
I can only suggest you try to clear all programming again using the 2 strings I mentioned in post #384 and then try adding a signle Carrier Code and a single Routing Rule to see if you can get that to work.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Just to day that on mine it does.
Fruit and Nut Case
If you have no luck after clearing the Carrier and Routing Codes again, you'll have nothing to lose by using the complete reset procedure:
There are 3 procedures:
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 1 * 8
Replace handset
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 0 * *
Replace handset
Lift Handset & dial
**# 0000 * 0 * 7
Replace handsetTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
