This is to allow a normally CLI barred landline (e.g. if you are the ex-directory type) which would otherwise show up on your mobile as "number withheld" to be visible and show up as "Home" or "Wife" (or whatever your mobile's directory has for your home phoneline entry). Calls to other mobiles remain 'number withheld', as normal. (I remembered how I programmed it now).
In the Carrier Code section of Kevin's spreadsheet, add a new carrier code (in this example, it is entry number 6).
No = 6
Carrier Code = 147018185xxxxxxx
Description = CLI to Mobile
Programming Code= *#**147018185xxxxxxx*6 (this entry will automatically be generated on Kevin's spreadsheet)
The first seven digits only of your own mobile number replaces xxxxxxx above.
Note that you can't programme all 11 digits of your mobile here because Orchid programming code is restricted in length and you need the rest of the digits for the stars and hashes etc. E.g. if your mobile number is 07712345678, then you ONLY enter 0771234.
Now, in the Routing Code Table, add another entry (here it is entry number 30)
No = 30
Call Type = xxxxxxx
Desc. = John's mobile
Handling = T
Day = 6
Night = 6
Weekend = 6
Programming Code = *###xxxxxxx#5666#30# (This entry will automatically be generated on Kevin's spreadsheet)
Again, the xxxxxxx in the Call Type and Programming Code columns should be replaced with the same first seven digits of your mobile phone number.
If your Carrier Code entry (see above) is not entry number 6, change the Day/Night/Weekend numbers accordingly to match the Carrier Code entry number.
Save the spreadsheet and update the Orchid (you can update just this new entry by highlighting first the new Carrier Code entry then click on "Dial Single Table Entry". One this is programmed highlight the new Programming Code entry and do the same).
Manual programming (using tones). Best to write this down on a piece of paper, substituting the seven xxxxxxx below with the first seven digits of your mobile phone number.
1. Dial
*#**147018185xxxxxxx*6
and replace handset
2. Dial
*###xxxxxxx#5666#30#
and replace handset.
Test it by dialing your mobile.
How it works:
When you dial your mobile number the Orchid sees the first 7 digits and routes the call via 18185 and precedes the call with 1470 to force your landline number to be displayed at the other end. It will do so only for mobile calls begining with the same first 7 digits. OK, there's a remote chance you might call another mobile with the same first 7 digits as yours in which case they too would see your home number displayed, but it's pretty unlikely.
There may be a more elegant way to do his but this one works.
Have fun:j

Great spreadsheet, very easy to use. Many thanks!!
One question ...
I am on BT Callplan free Evenings & Weekends and use 18185 daytime.
Am I correct that there is no such thing as "local rate" for calling plan customers?
Hence I should route local calls via 18185 during daytime?
I have read BTs tariff guide (yawn!) and it is ridiculously complex so Im still not sure.0 -
Yes, you are correct. BT abolished the differentiation between the cost of calling 'locally' and 'nationally' on 1st July 2004.
Unfortunately, Talk Talk appear to be trying to bring it back.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
OK thanks Heinz.
In that case what is the purpose of setting "My Area Code" and line 1 on the routing table?0 -

So you can dial numbers within your own STD code area without having to dial the STD code (i.e. numbers beginning 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8)
Ah, I see. So it is automatically adding on the rest of the area code to make the full STD, then adding any carrier prefix depending on daytime.0 -

Yes, me too. I am 023. I was trying to program this via another prefix but I have set it up as per the spreadsheet now and it works fine!0

Just another thought ....
How reliable is the V4 in maintaining time. I understand if it loses power from the line it will lose the clock settings, but how frequently is this likely to happen?
I have a Linux server running 24/7 is it worth the effort of scripting it to resend the time every night at say 3am? Or is that overkill?
Thx0
