Send a Sar request to Egg, enclose £10 and ask for all info they hold on you, they should have your details there somewhere as this was only closed 2 years ago, send the Sar and put that this card was closed and not passed over to Barclays and if they cannot help you with this info then you will contact the ICO.0 -

Thanks for this, I thought this might be the thing to do, but it is good to have it confirmed.0 -
Hello,
I took out a credit card with MBNA back in 2000. This account was closed in May 2006. I was young and financially naive and was paying PPI without understanding what it was. When my parents found out they told me to ring up and cancel it straight away as I didn't need it. I rang MBNA but was talked into keeping PPI, which I had on the account until I closed it.
Any information I had about the account was shredded years ago.
Could anybody tell me whether I have a claim, and/or whether sending an SAR will get any information because of the length of time the account has been closed.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -
If you get a copy of your credit file, this card may still be on there, there will be the last 4 digits of the card number.
If MBNA cannot find you when you phone them on 0800 062 062, then do a Sar request, use the last 4 digits and give as much info as you can regarding this card, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.
Look here for reasons you may have been mis sold this card.

Just to report of the success I had using SAR, I had a loan going back 1999, I sent a letter plus my £10 fee to the company concerned and I got back a photocopy of the original loan agreement plus some additional information. I have passed the information to the relevant company regarding my PPI, awaiting what they will do next. This all happened after I was told they had no information on the loan I took out. So it's worth pursuing the matter through this method.
To add this was archived information, contained on a computer, so those who are going through the same process I did, the information is not completely distroyed it is on someone's computer somewhere or in a file.
Good luck

No this was Sainsbury's Bank, administered by the Bank of Scotland. I was going around in circles trying to sort this out. I had an agreement number which they kept on telling me was incorrect, which was not true as it was the correct number quoted on the agreement. If you do not have an agreement number, just request ANY financial information that they hold on you, this should cover you for anything, not just the loan.
Good luck
