Do you need information on this card, or do you want to put a claim in for mis sell?.

Thanks for reply amersall.my wife had several cards, all paid off now but need to contact the companies concerned to find out if she has paid ppi ( we do not have paperwork) allthough her credit file lists the accounts, again not full acc. no,s just the last few digits. We thought that if we sent the full SAR letter with the £10.00 fee we would receive the info required.

    Regards

I wish to make a claim to my bank, Lloyds TSB, what I want to know about the SAR letter in the OP is are they only duty-bound to provide the last 6 years of information?

I've been with them 20 years, and had plenty of loans and cards with them in that time.

The SAR will provide at least the last six years of information, sometimes more.
However, if old information has been destroyed then they can't recover it for you.

Just had a reply from Santander to my SAR using the great template letter on here (thank you) Theyve now responded with information regarding our current mortgage (which doesnt have ppi) and nothing at all about 2 loans I took out a few years back. Contacted them and theyve told me that as the loans were paid off then theyve now archived the information and they can only access it if Ive got the account numbers. (which I dont have) Despite calling them theyre not budging. I dont know what to do now, the SAR I did specifically ask for archived information and the reply letter does say that theyve now destroyed the original account records in line with their retentions policy. It also says 'historical information can only be retained if there is a legitimate reason for processing the data in accordance with the rights of an individual'
Ive jumped through hoops (on the phone) and managed to speak to someone in ppi claims who insists they cant access any more information about me as some of it has been archived/destroyed and unless ive got an account number they wont entertain it. Im not sure if Im being fobbed off, what do I do next. I just want to know if I paid ppi on a couple of loans I had with them. Do I have to do another SAR and pay another £10? any advice would be appreciated.

If the information has been destroyed and you're not even sure whether you had PPI on the loans, I'd regard this as the end of the road for any potential complaint you may have.
No point sending for another SAR, it would just return the same information.
  • hi guys,

Yes you can, give as much info as you can to help them find your account, ask for all info they hold you and give them 40 days to respond.
Have you contacted the bank to see if they can find you?, this may save you £10.

Hi there - hope you can help. I want to contact Egg about a credit card I took out in 2002 and closed in 2010. During this time, I realised I was paying PPI and although they cancelled the PPI I had not realised for some time, so goodness knows how much I paid them unknowingly. Unfortunately I no longer have any record of the card number (actually 2 card numbers I as I had to have my card number changed in 2007 due to fraud on my account) only the last 4 digits of the two numbers. Is a SAR the best way to find this out? I only want the card numbers in order to make a claim, but I notice that some people have had SARs returned because they don't have their account numbers. I know I was mis-sold and am confident about a claim, but don't want to waste my time with a SAR if that is not the right thing to do. Egg can only be contacted by post, so I can't ring them up to find out.

Thanks in advance for your help :)
