I used similar amounts of ingredients but added a bit more grated cheddar cheese than suggested and a little more grated raw onion. I also used SR flour to see if it worked.
DDs like the muffins when I add some bacon as well (not if they are having a veggie phase!) and also when I add more sugar , grated raw apple and some cinnamon and ginger to the mix.
Thank you so much to whoever mentioned the chocolate fudge pud!!!:T :A
Have just made it for the first time and even DH (who is not much for chocolate or puds) liked it.
DD(15) who is usually picky says it is as nice as you would get in a restaurant!!!!! She is even copying down the recipe for herself and has asked when she moves out for uni can she have this recipe as well as a few others!!!I'm in shock!!!!;)

My DH thinks he is being "appreciated" when I make him a cup of tea and a cooked breakfast.
Real fussing over is making his favourite soup.
Glad he doesn't read on here!!LOL!;)"This site is addictive!"

Well i dont know how everyone else is doing but for me the last week has been a bit of a nightmare.
The main reason is that we have had heavy snow all week and none of our roads have been gritted/salted. I am a total coward when the roads are bad and icy. I have a suzuki vitara that has 4 wheel drive but its oldstyle:rotfl: by that i mean i have to physically get out the car and turn the hub nuts to FREE POSITION and put my gearstick in 4wd then when i hit a clear road get out again and turn them back..with a pair of pliers i may add..and put it back in 2wd. Ive only had the car since sept. My car just skids all over the place in 2wd..its so dangerous.
The upshot of it all is that i havent been able to get out of the village all week..i just havent risked it.
People panic bought the village shop out of supplies...i was too late so...
Ive had to make up some dried skimmed milk powder to make drinks.
Have baked my own bread in bm(not a problem)
The cash machine in the shop has run out of money so ive had to raid my sealed pot:( of change.
I braved the roads today and went to mr t...to say it was heaving to the rafters was an understatement...managed to get some money out and in i went.
Trolley rage to the max...no bread what soever..only 2 loaves that had been dropped on the floor that were being run over by raging trolleys...off i trot to get some strong bread flour for hm bread.....not a single bag of flour on the shelf!
No a pinch of salt anywhere in the store either,,,not that i needed any.
not an oven chip or spud in sight...sigh.
So ive been osing this week if i like it or not and with 3 days of severe weather warnings issued for my area with drifting heavy snow forecast it looks like im going to be stuck in the village.
Hows it been for you?#440 sealed pot challenge0 -
I've been stuck too... I've been working from home due to the appalling driving conditions, so didn't go out on Monday or Tuesday. On Wednesday I walked into the village for a meeting... Thursday and Friday it snowed again, and yesterday I realised I won't be able to get my car out until I clear the frozen snow off the drive (I've done two thirds, and will see what it looks like in the morning...)
I cleared a path to the garage so that I can access my second freezer, and have walked to the village shop a couple of times for odds & ends, but it appears that as a result of the bad weather the rest of the village have discovered it! It's out of free range eggs (plenty of barn ones), yogurt, milk, bread and quite a few other bits and pieces.
I have used up my entire stock of (out of date) rice milk, so am now onto UHT cow's milk which I'm not so keen on, and am working my way systematically through the freezer and cupboards. It's probably good to have a bit of a clear-out periodically, and it's good to know that I can survive. In a couple of days I will run out of fruit juice and fresh/frozen fruit, but still have dried apricots, figs & dates and plenty of frozen veg, so should be able to live fairly healthily for another couple of weeks if necessary

Interesting thread, Ika200.
I have been more fortunate, I think. I keep a pantry of food rather than 'planning' foods and I know I always have enough in the house to keep us going for four or five weeks with no problems. After the first fortnight it might not be things that we'd necessarily eat the rest of the time - the tinned veg in particular has a place in my pantry only for emergencies - but it's a 'safety blanket' that makes me feel more comfortable. Not especially if there is bad weather, but if, say, one of us was taken seriously ill or was made unexpectedly redundant. It does make me relieved that I didn't have to brave the panic buyers though! I had no idea people were going that beserk!
I also have a cupboard full of blankets and an emergency box under the sink with everything from a camping stove to a wind-up radio in it in case of power cut. We also have a small power pack that we made sure was fully charged, so if anything I'm overprepared! :rotfl: But because we own these things anyway, it makes sense to me to store them somewhere together and easily accessible 'just in case'.
I don't drive so that wasn't really an issue for me, OH does but he lives close enough to his workplace to walk. when the buses weren't running I walked, I know that being fit and young is a bonus there though! Also I don't really rely on money too much day by day, because I always have food in.
I believe a lot of people were rather unprepared, I ended up baking bread in my breadmaker for some of my elderly neighbours and had to bring another neighbour in overnight after both her gas and leccy meters ran out of emergency credit.
All in all things carried on as normal for me, with just a few more knocks on neighbours' doors than usual, and maybe the heating on a little longer. So I guess I am pretty OS anyway!0 -
well I'd shopped for 3 weeks from mr a's home delivery so its made no difference to us other than hubby went to the market for fresh fruit and veg rather than me taking the kids. Oh and when I popped out for loo roll on wed supermarket was empty of shoppers and veg was whoopsied to 2p so i have lots of fresh beans, asparagus, baby corn and sugar snaps!
I've put a blanket, some cereal bars and walking boots in the car but thats about it.
We have a huge stash of logs and candles anyway so will be warm no matter what!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Evening everyone
Well not such an OS day, did a bit this morning, hooving and cleaning up etc but then OH said shall we go pictures this afternoon, so we did. Went to see He's just not that into you, chick flick but me and SD enjoyed it. Got back into car, go round the roundabout, see police at the side.....they come after us will lights flashing etc, SD was wearing her seat belt under her arm......don't think she will do that again, mind you she did say if he was ten years younger she would have been interested! teenagers! We then went to pub for tea, it started snowing, then a bit more, then a lot. Took us an hour to do 10 miles slipping and sliding, we had the added stress of OH ex (SD's mum) ringing her to tell her that her rabbit was dying. Cue SD shouting she wanted to get home quicker, me shouting your dad is doing what he can, OH just driving lol
Well we got home, I think the rabbit is dead.
Hope you all had a good day

Hello everybody,
one of the disadvantages of visiting my daughter in Cork is that she doesn't have a pc...so no MSE. Had a good visit, her new house is lovely and everything is just so....doesn't get it from me!
JackieO...sorry I missed wishing you well yesterday, but here it is to-day and many more to come, glad you had a wonderful day.
Nothing much done yesterday or to-day, read the paper on the way home on train this afternoon, very relaxing mode of transport, and free with OH's travel card...would have been cheaper to bring the car if we had to pay.
Tired now, heading to bed soon...Luca was a brat while I was away and wouldn't take his medicine for DD4, she reckons that he is beyond help and that I am being cruel keeping him alive...he looks awful but was very pleased to see me and took his meds and food no problem, so I think that he was just peeved that I wasn't sitting here holding his paw...typical male. Will have to think about what she says though, as he only uses litter tray sometimes and steals any scrap of food that is not hidden in fridge, as this was not his normal way of life not sure what he means, if I thought that he were suffering I would not be happy, but he seems ok most of the time.
Sleep well all

Marie, how are you? Hope you are okay :grouphug:
I know there are bound to be those on here who disagree with me, but I do honestly believe that our furbabies hang on for us because they love us. I honestly think if things were too much he would let go. It's terrible to see our loved ones go through pain, whether human or not, but I do think that right now he's here with you because he loves you and wants to be with you as long as he can.0
