Got all my family coming today for a big sunday lunch ive already prepared most things and got chicken roasting in oven , mum usally does lunch but thought id give her a break

all have a good day x
  • Chrisca I've been following Stephen Fry on twitter too;) I think he's a genius.

Lovely sunny day here in Worcester. I must get out for a walk later.

I'm going to roast the minute joint of lamb that came in my Well Thrifty Meat box -it's 480g for 5 of us. I'm going to roast it slowly and serve it with roast veg- onions, parsnips, carrot, potatoes, swede. I think I'll do a stovetop rice pud for the kids.

    Have a nice Sunday all:)

Thriftlady yes I agree, he is a genius, his way with the english language is brilliant. Even more so when you see it written down.
  • Morning all
I've spent a very tiresome hour trying to persuade O2 to stop taking money out of my account, cos I'm with 3 mobile! They have no address you can write to, just a call centre who do nothing to help whatsoever.
Lovely & bright & sunny here today, but more snow forecast for Monday night.
Today I WILL finish sorting out the study.
    Breakfast - egg on toast
    Lunch - roast lamb
Tea - we probably won't have any

    Have a good day everyone.
    hugs Hester

    Morning my lovelies!

First a question - How do I make leek and potato soup in a slow cooker? Do I sweat the leeks/onions etc first? What if I add bacon?

JackieO - Belated Happy Birthday, glad you had a smashing time
PenPin - I think your DD will get away with the dress, as long as she is not wearing huge heels and a tonne of make up (and remembers to bend at the knees, not the waist! :) )
TiredMum - Hope you feel better soon
N9eav - Meant to say, Trago do Ford keys as well, they cost about £50 (they actually copy the code from one key to the other)
Thriftlady - Just checked out your Well Thrifty meat box and I see it is from the Well Hung Meat Company - I live right near them and keep meaning to go in on my way past and get some of their meat - what is it like? Is it really very expensive, or worth the cost?

Well, today I should be making leek and potato soup, plus I need to do some baking for next weeks lunches...have some pears that need using so probably something involving that.

Desperately trying to tidy the house too, my living room floor is filthy (as i am traipsing mud in every time I come in)

Dinner is fish pie, and I have leftover Spanish omelette for lunch

Just hearing on the news that there is going to be an inquiry into bankers bonuses! :j

    I'm tweeting!

Have to admit, I bought the Telegraph yesterday (wanted my Thorntons choccies, it's not normally my newspaper of choice!), read the article there, and thought hmmmm.... it's gonna be facebook all over again for me! I hate facebook, and every time I log on now I'm overwhelmed by notices telling me that I have over 100 messages and notifications, and requests, and that the only the latest 99 of each will be displayed. At which point I think, oh I can't be bothered and log off again

But I've joined anyway, same username as here, would appreciate hooking up with people from here as I'm a billy-no-mates at the moment :rotfl:

I don't normally post on here but thought I would do today, can't usually keep up! I'm been a bit of a Delia today and made rock cakes with LO. They were supposed to be sort of Fat Rascals (with cherries and almonds to look like faces) but I didn't have enough cherries so LO had idea to use blueberries that were in the fridge, so we did that. Of course what happened was that when they cooked the blueberries released the juice so now they look a little like they have been crying blood! They also are huge and flat looking like saucers instead of rocks.:rotfl: I guess too much liquid.:o
I've also got Hot Cross Buns proving but I don't think they will be a great success as I think they are a bit too wet, added more flour as it was kneading in the kenwood but not too hopeful. I made cheese and onion bread on Friday for some friends and forgot to put the salt in!!!!:p I'm a bit rubbish actually at this baking lark!
Having a lazy day this pm, DD1 is feeling a bit under the weather so I think a Disney film marathon is in order, it might mean I get to do somemore of my cross-stitch that I was supposed to finish for Xmas! I've got loads of plans for more xmas stuff but finish what I've started/bought first!!

Hope everyone is having a more successful day than me! Not hard........

    Morning Guys!

Hope evryone is well. I've had a rough night again and just can't seem to get warm.

WM & DW have both been on. Pork joint out for dinner. OH needs to prep the veg. We are having cabbage, carrots, roasties and sprouts.

I need help with a predicament we have:confused: ....we have a wedding to go to next week. DD has a lovely dress but she has put it on this morning and although it fits perfectly, it is quite short. She is 5foot7 (size 10)and the dress is about 3 inches above her knees, but she will be wearing thick (60denier) teal colour tights. It does look lovely on her and she has all matching accessories....she looks about 17:eek:   and OH is having a fit as she has lumps and bumps in all the [strike]right[/strike] wrong places:D I think she looks very elegant and not slutty etc but its quite a well to do wedding and I dont want to offend anyone. BTW, if you were to talk to her, she talks like a 25yr old, so people wouldnt think....look at the state of that 14yr old tart:rotfl: I think OH will have a fit if any guy talks to her, but as I keep saying we were 13 when we met and DD has more common sense than we did:rolleyes:

    Anyway.....answers on a postcard please.

OH is taking 3 doors off upstairs as I type and taking off all architrave for tomorrow. Upstairs must look like a bomb has gone off. Mate is coming at 8am to help OH and my nurse will be here about the same time.

Jackie0-Glad you had a nice day.

Nelski-Where are you hun? Missed ya.

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((smokey))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

    Hugs to all

    PP
    xx
