  • Thought I'd update everyone on my position with the great HBoS heist of 2009!! :j

My wife and I had 2 joint BoS Moneyback accounts, until they were switched over earlier this month(I was primary applicant on one, my wife on other a/c).
Thought I chance my arm, and try to open up 2 further Halifax Reward Accounts in my own name, and one of which was instantly approved. The second was awaiting a decision, which I now have. I was DECLINED the second HRA and got a lovely letter saying:

"Thank you for your recent application for a Bank Account.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you an account at the moment because your application does not pass the qualifying tests that we use...blah, blah, blah"

So, we're having to settle for the 2 joint accounts, and one each(i.e. 4 in total)...still it's £240 for not a lot of work especially if I set up circulating SO's round the accounts. :T

If you want a laugh though, I received two letters from them at the weekend. The first asking me to send them a cheque for £100 to fund the opening of the new account(which I had already done online when I opened it) and that once received they would send me my card..........and yep, in the 2nd envelope.....my card!!!!:rotfl:

Good Luck to you all, let's all get something out of them b4 they get Nationalised!!!
  • will they decline out of hours/weekends or is only in working hours? i.e. will my screen change tonight or likely to be tomorrow when some1 looks at the applications...?

  • Hi Milford,

Going on the usual process with HBoS, it seems that any changes to account happen with the turn of a new day, i.e. the status of the 2nd account I applied for changed fron 'pending' to 'application decision' as I slept one night during the week, so I'd suggest that you check 1st thing in the morning tomorrow?

Hope this has helped a little?

    Good Luck!

  • For those who have been able to set up 3 reward accounts - do you have to fund each account externally in order to gain the £5?

Or is it possible just fund one account with £1000+ and then transfer that money into the other two reward accounts "internally" - and still get the £5?

Read some other Halifax Reward threads, this has been answered by several people.... spend time looking and you shall seek.....

But from memory people say to transfer EXTERNALLY, similar to this:

Assume you use Barclays, you transfer £1k from Barclays to HFX A/C 1, you then leave it a few hours and move back to Barclays, then do same process for accounts 2 & 3. Yes, may take 3 days (with faster payments) but thats worth the £15 you'll get....

this will most definitely have been answered already! i'm too lazy to look and hope someone will take pity on me. Milford has said you don't need to leave money in for longer than a few hours. On sat, i visited branch with bf, he was switching to his reward account, lady noticed that he'd transferred 1001 in and 1000 straight back out. she said this would not qualify for the £5 reward, can anyone confirm or deny this? she said the money needed to be left in overnight, which sounds kinda stupid to me. with my HICA, i usually pay in then take some if not all straight back out.

I thought I said it may take three days with faster payments which means leave it in a day then move it back, then back again. Faster payments mean the transfer is instant but you leave it in Hbos each day - 3 accounts = 3 days! lol

sorry didn't think I had to spell it out hehe

Have a read of THIS or THIS

Branch ( employee upstairs, not cashier) said to me :

Whilst their is nothing to say that the 1000.00 has to be left in overnight, she would do so to be on the safe side, she also said that in normal circumstances a salary credit would go in and some of it might get withdrawn straight away which counters out the must stay in overnight argument. ( Abbey informed me that their 1000.00 credit requirement doesnt have to remain in place overnight)

That their is nothing to say that the account (s) have to be funded from external sources.
