And managing their money well! Give the bank a bit of credit!
After all, they have you!Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
I have set up 3 reward accounts. On the Halifax website it says £5 will be payed "after tax". But as a non-taxpayer how do i claim the tax back as the gross amount equtes to £6.25? Do i fill in a R85 form?
No .... you can't do that as Halifax insist it isn't 'interest' ... it's a net cash Reward. Nevertheless you can claim it back on an R40 after the year end.

...my account T&C's will remain the same - the HICA is not getting moved to a reward...It is intended that all Halifax accounts will move to a daily overdraft charging structure like this in 2009

So both her, her manager and the computer were lying then?
No, at the moment your HICA T&Cs will stay the same. There will be no change.
However, as the press release that YorkshireBoy quoted said, they have announced that they intend to move these accounts over, possibly later this year. So nothing is definite, and they certainly don't want to be worrying customers at the moment by thinking changes will happen now, as there won't necessarily even be any change for you (this is unlikely though).0 -

How does a computer know (yet) that your account will migrate to the Reward type on, say, 28th November 2009?
I think you'll be notified, with around 8 weeks notice as they did with the Moneyback account customers, of the changes once they (Halifax top brass, not your branch staff or even your branch manager) decide to implement what they've already announced in the press release.0 -

There is some confusion here, I will email HBOS head office on Monday and report back with hopefully some facts.
They haven't announced anything firm yet, so emailing them won't produce anything except somthing along the lines of "It is intended that all Halifax accounts will move to a daily overdraft charging structure like this in 2009". No firm dates have been set yet, so they aren't going to be able to be more specific to you.
Even if they (HBOS "top brass") do have fixed plans to implement it, all they will say to you at the moment is
1) There will be no change to your account now; and
2) We may or may not change your account at some stage in the future.0 -
