My second one looks like this:

    Incorrect Brand

Thank you for your recent application for a Halifax Bank Account. Please return to the Halifax website for your decision. Alternatively, call our Helpline on 08457 20 30 40

Incorrect Brand? What's that all about?

    God only knows - lol

I think it's cos I had 3 live applications going through at once and maybe they are doing one (decline) at a time lol

we need a Hbos employee to come forward on here like SS & BM have for their respective (& cool) banks :T

  • Booked up the courage and applied for one of these accounts today. Even with my 8 years of loyal service and good internal score I doubt I'll be successful, what having a default (satisfied) against me, a hand full of previous addresses, 17 searches and late payment history.

But hey got to try aye.....

I transfered my old current account across no problem, but the second one I applied for is stuck as "Current Account", not become Reward as yet, even with £100 deposit for a couple of days...

Regarding the possible negative effect on your credit rating of applying for these. I just tried the MSE tool. After applying for one account my rating was still "Excellent", after two it drops to "Good", but with all three it becomes only "Average".

So if still going for multiple accounts it could be better to try one at a time, then if you get rejected for the 2nd at least you won't have blown a 3rd credit search already.
  • Opened one yesterday without any problems. It was showing as "Halifax Current Account". I payed in £100 via HSBC and it was in the account a few minutes later (checked online).

Today, the account is saying "Halifax Reward Current Account" but the balance is £0.00 and there are no recent transactions! Any ideas anyone?

Look back a few pages on this thread, you'll see this does happen frequently. Wait for a day or two, and it'll be back.

  • Hi.

Does anyone know if per month means calender month? My wages usually go in on the 25th of the month but occasionally due to bank holidays or weekends it can be a day or 2 late.

    Thanks in advance.
