Sorry you are having such a tough time - it always all comes together doesn't it. Keep battling on - you'll get there, and very best of luck because I think it is your turn to have some.

MUMOFTWO you will get back every penny of that excess. And the angiogram is nothing --my OH has had that 4 times, tell your hubby even with stents put in, if things go normally, he will be back at work in a week .

This possibly doesn't help at the moment, but what I've learnt after having a pretty !!!!!! four years is that we are soooo much stronger, I'm now not scared of what the next two years might throw at us because I know we'll get through it whatever.

My wise old grandmother always said things were "character building" maybe she was right after all!

    Hello everyone

I'm a LONG time lurker of this thread (amongst others). I like to share the joy of your triumphs, wring my hands along with your dilemmas and wish you a speedy sprint through your upsets. I don't normally get time to post (usually because I'm pages behind with my catch up:o ) but I always read.

Anyway, the point of my post is to say you've all had a profound effect on me, and my spending specifically. I now don't participate in the "feel good" spending I used to, preferring to spirit any spare cash away for, what I think, is an inevitable downturn in fortune.

I marvel at so many of you on here and aspire to be as "switched on" as you.

I might not have anything more to say but I will still be here.

    Good luck one and all

Thanks for all your support, my lovely virtual friends :T

That is good to know mardatha, we are waiting for the consultant to contact us to tell us whether he is going to put stents in, I thought he would be off work for ages, I wouldn't mind having him at home but he'd rather be at work so not to give them an excuse to make him the next redundancy.

And you are right Pitlanepiglet, what doesn't kill us will make us stronger.

My girls are 14 and 13 and the oldest is a real worrier, like me. She is going in for surgery in a weeks time to get an eardrum graft.

Upwards and onwards, there are people who are so much worse off than us, at least we are not in a lot of debt and like to keep it that way.

D'OH - I actually came to say sorry to mumof two:o and got carried away.

I marvelled at how well you took the car stuff, AND the crash but when it comes to health? You must be really worried. I was about to ask if you knew anyone who'd gone through it but mardatha has answered. I like to think of myself as wee bit of a solver of things but any time we've been faced with medical/health things I'm afraid I just crumble.

Right, am away again. Am a bit like the Glasgow buses, nothing for ages and then two at the same time (posts I mean)

Come and say Hello to us on Old Style daily- we promise not to bite!!!!;)

Saw an announcement on the news this morning about possible powercuts and TPTB denying it like mad!!!!

DH now starting to love the Remoska as much as I do- think the fact that it uses a third the wattage of the oven might have something to do with it.

Sunday lunch went down well and will save dessert till 4p.m. to have with a cup of tea, cheesecake with some defrosted summer fruits by the side of it to look posh!

Still agonising over buying a Kelly kettle and trying to decide when DH is likely to be out of the way when it arrives - that man seems to have radar!!!!!!;)

Might order it and just say it is my Christmas present ( then find somewhere to hide it!)

oh that remoska. Wonderful. My dh made scones yesterday and he is the one who has been in denial about cooking ever since we were married in 1970. It is as though it isn`t as intimidating as the oven.

I went to T today and must admit that I hunted for good buys again. Meat, bleach etc then I came home and set to with 1 lb of lean mince and bulked it with beans, tomatoes, the usual stuff but more than I used to. I split it into 3 meals for two and that is the difference because just a few weeks ago I was proud to be getting 2 meals out of 1 lb. It was very tasty and obviously very nutritious but I can`t help hearing things I don`t want to hear. Part of me says that we are on the turning point then some big whizz comes on the radio or tv and says there is a long way to go, so I get that churning feeling again

What is doing it for me now is the fact that I prudently put savings into icesave into fixed rate bonds and it is ok in that it is under 35k but I will need access as I am using savings to live in to top up my small pension. The thought is there `what if` and what if I can`t get access when I want to. That is my wake up moment
