Well, things got a whole lot tougher..

AFter all your help re my MOT failure and repairs, while taking the kids to school on Wed, a German lorry driver decided to drive into my car because he didn't know where he is was going and he got confused about driving left or right! (that is my polite version) The police said because he had left hand drive he didn't see me!

Luckily no one was hurt and I thank the heavens above for that because it was a huge lorry. But my car is badly injured and now in the hands of the insurers and I have a £250 excess. So I have to cough up money for something that wasn't my fault. Luckily enough I do have a courtesy car, thank goodness for reading the policy carefully.

My OH also had to go into hospital for an angiogram and was told he has 2 narrowed arteries which need further treatment. Things at his work are not going that great, he had rarely had time off work, but there has already been redundancies, what if he is next? I have done all my crying in the last few days and feel a bit better, I have money put away, was meant for Christmas and some overpayment on the mortgage but that will have to be used, so at least we don't have to go into debt.

I had to put the heating on, the wind and rain is raging around the house and our hands and feet are freezing. If things get worse, I have to increase my working hours but with two kids, one with special needs, it will be difficult.

Just done Asda shopping online with free delivery so not to spend more than we need. Kids off on holiday for the next two weeks, so if I take them to the supermarket, it will be: "can we get this". Planning on home baking this week, kids can help out, gives them something to do, bake bread and am teaching them to cook a simple dish.
Sorry for the long waffle, don't know what I would do without you all

You should get the £250 excess back if it wasn't your fault. Ask your own insurance company to let you know the details of the lorry's insurers and they will refund the £250 to you. Unfortunately you do have to pay it first though!

Thanks a lot for all your support. I am trying to be strong, and on the outside I am, organising things, calculating, seeing where I can save money, keeping the kids worry free, be there for OH, keep up with the housework/shopping etc but inside I feel like I want to scream. But I will get through it, I know I will. And I will just come on here and leave all the housework and just read and know that there are people a lot worse off than me.

We have had our fair share of rubbish times in this hosuehold i cna tell you but i found one of the best things i oculd do was try 'not' to be superwoman - adn realise that the most important things are what i needed to concerntrate on. Like my bf lost his sight partially and i had a 2.5 year old (then) to look after, plus i had to find a job as he could no longer work, sort benefits etc - and after a week of being wonderwoman i was shattered.
so if the dishes arent done striaght after dinner dont worry, or if the washing piles up - its trivial - dont panic. how old are the kids?? maybe if you are able to explain it they might understand a bit better (if old enough obviously)

you'll be ok chick and dont forget there are always a set of ears on here at every hour of the day - strangely
