Done it online maybe 3 weeks ago and got told straight no! Told to reapply later in 6mth but in future i'd go into branch I think....Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

At the time of a/c opening the system did not offer me a credit card or loan but it did offer me an OD limit of £1000 and a £100 chq guarantee card. I ran the account well for less than 3 months and then went in there and asked for a credit card and a loan. I was granted both the credit card (with a £3k limit) and the loan. I've had the credit card a little less than 3 months now. Yesterday I asked them for a limit increase on the credit card. I asked them to raise my limit from £3000 to £3500. They credit scored me and came back and said actually they can raise the credit limit to £4000. They've been really good with me and have given me loads of credit products despite me only having been with them a short period of time. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Thanks for posting this. Your credit history must be excellent for HSBC to grant you further credit facilities so soon after you joined HSBC!! Do you have any adverse data on your credit file or is it completely spotless? I think for the majority of the population they will have some kind of adverse data somewhere on the credit file like one or two late payments.0 -

Well at the time I had no credit card, no loan and just a bank account and a mobile on my credit file, so it looked pretty pathetic. And I wasn't on the electoral register at that time either. No late payments or CCJs etc though. I think the thing that HSBC liked was I have a lot of money left over in the account each month after I've paid my monthly bills and so on.0 -
PS I was with other banks before HSBC and they didn't treat me nearly as well as this.0

I assume the credit card is possibly in the 60's and loan in the 70's - see where i'm coming from with those figures, based on the ones already mentioned?
I was led to beleive I had to wait 6mth for a Behaviour score? I opened account on 19th December I think and pay wages in weekly so run it really well.....
I have a weird scenario, victim of identity theft and branch know this and look out for me but dont know if this directly affects me? As far as I know Experian is good and Equifax have linked me to wrong address with same name! Nightmare....
Sorry to hear you have been a victim of identity theft. How bad was it? Touch wood i have been ok so far but i guess it can happen to anyone.0 -

same as me but then again i'm weekly paid and I hope my score improves but then again who knows lol....... I always have money left in account but as a new customer they wouldn't know this would they so it was a gamble to give you so much at outset.... :beer:Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

I think even after a couple of months they can start to see how much disposable income you have. They can combine that with what's in your credit file and make a decision.
I really am impressed with this bank. They go out of their way to be efficient and helpful.0 -

If you haven't done so already, why don't you ask them what your behaviour score is.0 -

Well its early days mate.... i have been treated very badly with HSBC because they made me take the managed loan after i graduated. Long story. They are however a solid bank with decent branches but indian call centres are a bit off putting! Have you read this in one of the threads i started? I can give you a link if you are interested to read it!0
