I have 3 current accounts with them (two joint with my husband and one of my own) and only 1 is a plus account (my personal one) but I have used that number with all 3 accounts and my savings and my credit card accounts
they work out you are a plus customer when you put your account number and sort code in to the telephone banking system...
Hi,
I was simply duplicating what I was told in post #22.
I understand that they recognise you when you input details, now! Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

Its all fixed now though, I guess it was all to do with the fact I refused an o/d at account opening which if you do that you cannot apply for anything for 6 months. It blocks you. I needed a 2nd account, no chance. Now the o/d thing sorted I got it...
Thats about the jist of it, according to my branch.
Have you now opened your 2nd account?0 -

The £100 gaureentee is for Current Account Advance which requires a minimum of £500 a month into the account but obviously they do checks every 6 months (average most probably) rather than every month...0

Half true, you still have to qualify - not just pay in the £500. I only opened it the other day, the branch knew i'd be putting over £2500 per month into it but they still won't give me a c/g. It may be because I already have one with my Plus account, gawd knows! Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

allthingsconsidered2009 wrote: »Same thing has happened to me. I got the full cheque guarantee with my Plus account. I also opened a business account and got a cheque guarantee card with that. But when I opened the second current account I got a debit card with no cheque guarantee facility. It's not a huge problem but it is actually quite annoying as I use the second account for grocery shopping and I buy my meat at a shop that still takes cheques and not debit cards.
what does the new Visa Debit look like? I only have the bog standard Maestro
Yea I agree with you, its just a pain cos like why give me one on one account but not another lol.....
Anyway, photo of debit card etc is shown here - looks like a platinum credit card though, IMHO!

Nah don't do it - you'll lose the c/g element!!! Hold onto the Maestro.... yea, looks smart (like a platinum visa) but I do like the plus card and as this is back up card, not bothered but wish it had c/g....Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

Hi, this is a question for Shelfstacker when convenient. I'm an HSBC customer of 16 years standing, have an HSBC Plus account and have been rebuilding my credit history for the last 18 months. I missed a few mortgage payments back then (tough period) but have now paid all the arrears, have a better paid job, and keep my bank account in credit. My credit score however remains poor because of a couple of CCJ's, now satisfied.
I have a variable rate mortgage with them of approx £72,000 and the property is worth £325,000 even in this market. I'd really like to add £40,000 to get rid of a vile secured loan elsewhere but am worried they will turn me down. I just can't face the rejection and am trying not to make hopeless applications. Any thoughts/advice gratefully receieved.
