HSBC Banking

Yes if its a BASIC account then most banks offer this - as long you have no fraud history or bankrupty, then it should be ok. But having basic account is really the lowest of all. HSBC i believe you only get cash card/ATM card. Other banks like Natwest Step account offer solo debit card, and Lloyds TSB Visa debit card - but cash withdrawals only at Lloyds TSB cash machines!! Co-op offer visa electron debit cards.0 -
But there is no guarantee they will offer basic accounts to anyone! Having defaults or CCJ on credit file would be very difficult to open a current account.0

I really like HSBC. I opened my Plus account with them about 6 months ago. At the time of a/c opening the system did not offer me a credit card or loan but it did offer me an OD limit of £1000 and a £100 chq guarantee card. I ran the account well for less than 3 months and then went in there and asked for a credit card and a loan. I was granted both the credit card (with a £3k limit) and the loan. I've had the credit card a little less than 3 months now. Yesterday I asked them for a limit increase on the credit card. I asked them to raise my limit from £3000 to £3500. They credit scored me and came back and said actually they can raise the credit limit to £4000. They've been really good with me and have given me loads of credit products despite me only having been with them a short period of time. I can't recommend them highly enough.0

Be good if you could clarify as i'd love to know what HSBC think of me lol.... and how long does it take before the behaviour score updates with a numerical digit(s) for new customers? Would 6-8wks be enough?
Also, do you know can you have 2 accounts with HSBC - tried to apply today but no option for sole account to existing customers....
Yes, after I'd had my Plus account open for 10 weeks i applied for a second current account for paying bills with etc. They opened it for me and offered me a £500 OD limit on it.0 -

Thanks for info - guess your credit file is better than mine then lol. On my original Plus account I only got £200 o/d.... plus they refused me a credit card. I'm waiting til behaviour score improves to see if this helps, cos i'm a new customer....Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

Is there anything negative on your credit file? what is your behaviour score at the moment? They said mine is 90. But at the time when they gave me the credit card etc, it was at 72 and this was 10 weeks after opening the account. So I'd guess you do have a behaviour score with them by now.0 -

Did you actually apply for a credit card? When?0 -

Ahh but if you read my earlier post with the behavioural score forum , this shows the calculations:
I assume the credit card is possibly in the 60's and loan in the 70's - see where i'm coming from with those figures, based on the ones already mentioned?0-39 - Low - they wouldn't mind if you left and would not offer you any 'standard' products or borrowing
40-49 - Average - you would qualify for 'standard' products such as current/savings accounts, and a Maestro debt/cheque guarantee card
50+ - You would now qualify for borrowing from them, including loans and overdrafts (Not really sure how the higher scores go, sorry)
I was led to beleive I had to wait 6mth for a Behaviour score? I opened account on 19th December I think and pay wages in weekly so run it really well.....
I have a weird scenario, victim of identity theft and branch know this and look out for me but dont know if this directly affects me? As far as I know Experian is good and Equifax have linked me to wrong address with same name! Nightmare....Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...
