Not sure if it'll be the same as if someone doesn't have an overdraft. I literally just clicked on Amend Overdraft on the left hand side and this is what then shows.

Thanks for this - Notice it doesn't show a recommended limit lol, like Halifax etc seem to do!
Mine looks like this:
As you can see, totally different screen and that's what I thought - if I was "eligible" then it'd let me have the apply button but it doesn't so obviously i'm just not allowed an overdraft! I'll wait the 6mth and see what happens....
ShelfStacker
Can you please advise why when I opened the account it says recommended overdraft (on a bit of paper they printed out) and the amount £200 but this was never given to me? Or was I looking at wrong thing? It deffo said something like recommended overdraft or something like that! Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

I opened a HSBC Plus account 3-4 weeks ago. I've tried using the ''Apple for overdraft'' and I didn't get the screen you got. I get a different one (See screenshot below). I applied for a £50 overdraft, but was declined instantly. I'm guessing it's because I've only been with HSBC for a few weeks or the fact that I'm only 18. Not sure why you're receiving that message.

milfordmadness: I'm not sure. Query it with the branch if you wish to, they might be able to do something about it.
theeffect: Probably due to not being with the bank long enough - however, we're declining quite a few people at the morning as the credit scoring appears to be getting a little more stringent. Wait for a bit and try again.0 -

Hmmmm, now the plot thickens. I bet they have given me a restricted account or something.... need someone like Shelf to have a sneak look for me and tell all lol.
I knew something wasn't right with the screen and the way it never let me even apply, even to get told no! This proves it - hope ShelfStacker can shed some light for me...Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

Have you seen the screen differences as shown above? Why would mine be so different to the others, do you know, in your experience, of them giving restricted accounts even though I have a £100 chq gtee card and chq book etc? I'm well confused....

You can tell me that scoring is harder! Used to be the case, according to my old Midland chums, that if you got declined you could speak to branch who have additional powers and can override decisions etc... is this true or not? Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

Hi again Sutton, is that a condition of Plus that you get ENGLISH people when you ring up? After all its the same 08457 404404 number (or do they recognise this with account number etc?) If so GREAT!!!
I tried ringing for behaviour score, was politely told to go away and they didnt know what I was on about haha so doubt they will know what I mean, also what would I ask? Erm, hello sir do I have a restricted account? Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

While ShelfStacker works for HSBC, I think you'd get more help from HSBC Plus HelpLine, as they have access to your account details and can tell you about and ammend any problems.
It may be that they haven't seen enough funds go into your account, or it may be that while you passed the credit score to have a HSBC Plus account, you did not score high enough to have credit facilities and therefore they've limited your internet banking.
It could be a million things. Give HSBC Plus a ring and they'll tell you why.

Yes it is a condition of the Plus account but you have to go through the automated system as normal and you get recongised that way.

Thanks for your points, all of which are valid I agree. Do you know a HSBC Plus helpline number? I always ring bog standard 08457 404404 number?
I applied for current account, went in branch with ID and they offered me Plus. I have a £100 chq card etc which is in effect a £3k credit line isn't it? Also, I have over £4k per month go through my account and have over 12 direct debits and standing orders to my HSBC savings accounts! I earn over £500 per week which goes in plus I have an extra £2000 pension that transfers into this account (yea alright no 38 year old pensioner jokes please! Pensioned off, not literally old and wrinkly LOL) ...Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...
