    Warning!

I've been searching for a new LCD tv for quite a few months (I'm waiting for Sony's 40V4000 to get below £500 before I spend some hard saved cash!).
Today I was searching using google and came across the following website http://uniontechpc.com. DON'T USE THEM!.

The prices seemed a little too good to be true, so I did some research and found that the domain for the website is regstered to an individual (not a company), the website only went live at the end of Jan 09 and that their registered 'company' address is actually a house (I looked using google earth) - all very suspect :(

This is obviously just my opinion - Just thought I should inform people of what I've found out.

A lot of companies are registered at private addresses and indeed domain names can be held seperate from the company.
What evidence have you got to enable you to tell people not to purchase from this company?
  • I was checking their return address and I found out that it was the same used by okobe.co.uk, so I decided to ask okobe if they were connected to uniontechpc.com. What a surprise:

    Thank you for contacting us.

I can confirm that okobe.co.uk is not connected in any way to
    uniontechpc.com.

The Okobe legal department are already aware of uniontechpc providing
misinformation on their website and are taking the necessary actions to
    resolve this.

You can report this matter to trading standards and do make them aware
that uniontechpc are clearly stating a false address.

Please do contact us again if you have any further questions or queries.

    Regards,

    Kerry

Well done, not just rumour or opinion.
  • I ordered one of the 32" cheap lcd tvs from e.buyer after reading email. Didn't bother paying for any special delivery and it arrived yesterday - would have been Friday but late due to snow. Im really pleased with the tv, think its great quality and great price at £250. I'm not worried that it doesn't come with a well known name stamped accross it and would like to thank Martin and his team for bringing the deal to my attention. I had been expecting to pay about £330 for a new tv so I've saved loads of money.

Avoid Philips & go for a top make with more reliability & better after sales service.
    Nice to save.
  • Not strictly appropriate to this thread, but has anyone got suggestions for a cheap wall-mount with tilt suitable for a 37" LCD?

The best deal i've found so far is this one for £20.99 delivered.
  • At the weekend I bought the Alba 16" widescreen digital LCD TV from Argos that is HD-ready and has built-in Freeview.

I'm very impressed with what you get for £99.99 and highly recommend it as a small bedroom TV.
