I liked Memory keepers daughter too and agree films are never as good as books. I love all sorts of different books, I liked Jodie Piccoult for a while and brought all her books until I realised they were a bit samey, I love Terry Pratchett and am planning to re-read all the disc world books again soon. I've just checked my bookcase which is stuffed full of books I never want to part with and I have Unity to thank for introducing me to Phil Rickman. I wont go on, there are too many, I love it when I find a book I cant put down and I miss when I get to the end and I do find reading helps me blank out the pain. I do get times when I cant concentrate though.
Oooh Im all excited now and need a trip to Amazon, I have a long wish list thats waiting for meReal stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Thank you to everyone who posts comps xxx0 -
raeh, if you like Harlan Coben, check out Dennis Lehane. I don't think I have any of his books left, but will have a root round tomorrow.
I've been meaning to have a slim down so this will give me an incentive.
I'll post a list on here of what's up for grabs and anyone is welcome to take their pick.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Blimey raeh, that's impressive!!
I shall pm you immediatelyThank you kindly!
I used to have loads of books. I recycled a lot out to family since I'm such a gypsy and couldn't lug them around with me.
Where are all these comps you keep winning? I'm jealous!!!0 -

You know you all love it really!Suep wrote:BZ well done with going to shopmobility for your shopping trip, we only have them 4 days a week so I couldnt get a scooter this morning, it will probably be days before Im back to normal now, but Im stubborn and keep trying lolI'm not sure how often they're open in my town tbh.
Never investigated. Daft thing is MIL2B has a wheelchair that I could in theory borrow, but it's got the little wheels on it (which would do my head in when DF puts me in weird places and I can't see stuff ) and it's quite heavy imo. I was saying to him tonight that if, over time, I'm consistantly using wheelchairs when going out to such places, then I might get the doc to do an OT referral so they can come supply me with one...? Is that how it works?
Then I could maybe take it in the summers to the local nature reservey type thing for "walks" with DF and dogs/kids. I think it might come to that if/when I get preggers...
Hope you're fully recovered now suep and if not, that it's not long in comingRaeh wrote:bz love all the photosim dead nosey interested about peoples lives

i havent used photobucket i should really get some photos on of the garden and house and animals
I think did haven't put any pics of the kitchen or dining room on there actually...? Hmmm... can't remember now...
Hope you enjoy your [STRIKE]guiness[/STRIKE] fruit juice tomorrow night
I've read Memory Keepers Daughter too, fairly recently. My sister lent it too me. It's affording it though isn't it. Something which has more importance to me now since OH came home tonight and said he has no work from FridayLet me know how you get on with the whole mitochondrial thing, I'll talk to my GP about it next time I see him, but not making a special appt, I bug him enough as it is!
Sorry to hear about OH... is it redundancy due to the credit crunch, type thing?
Sorry this post is so long. I meant to post earlier on but got sidetracked by some bad news about my aunt. My dad rang and woke me up (as I think I said earlier today) and when I returned his call he told me that my Aunt has days, not weeks, to live.Thankfully, my parents saw her yesterday and she was telling them about the "lovely letter" that I'd sent her and how nice it was. She was really touched by it apparently. I can't tell you how glad I am that she got it on Saturday not today, as apparently she's not even conscious or aware of her surroundings now.
Her daughter, my cousin, is a nurse and is now on compassionate leave looking after her. I fear there will be a funeral next week.
Had fun on the Wii today though and nearly knocked DF out earlier on cos he was sat next to me on the couch when I was giving it a swing!
Hope you're all sleeping well and I'm the only one up obsessing..."I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
i could have sworn i posted this last night, but since its still sat here waiting to go i guess i didnt so i shall add to it now instead.
ooh looks good, now i need to find out if its one my sister has already started buying the series of .
kass i have a couple of jodie's, then i got bored of them or something, same with marian(a?) keyes.
i think i managed to collect most of torey haydens, mostly books i buy myself are in the real life category, i can buy them knowing my sister hasnt already.
the nauty little sister stories i bought recently because i remembered them so fondly. they were rather dissapointing coming back to them as an adult, i still had to read them all though.
sorry to hear about your aunt bz, im glad your letter got there on saturday too.0 -
BZ, I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. Glad it's of comfort to you that she knew how much you care before it got to the stage it has.
He is self employed and there is just no work left. He was very down yesterday but he said he thinks it might pick up after May. I think they have some school jobs coming up. He's a heating and ventilation engineer so it's mainly in the building trade which has taken a big hit. Things always have a way of working out and I'm a very resourceful girl0 -
Mornin' all. I'm early today (well, early for me, that is).
BZ I'm really sorry to hear about your aunt. Life just ain't fair sometimes.
Kass lucky you, having a good Doctor. Good if you can sort out one way or the other exactly what's going on with you, and maybe get better! Not good about your OH's work having dried up though.Fingers crossed that he gets something soon.
BZ when I got my wheelchair, I insisted on one with self-propel back wheels, for just the reason you said - if I had a pound for every time Mr LW has parked me in a daft place, I could bail out RBS!:D
Can you believe, it's not even half past eleven, and already I'm cream crackered. Been up since silly o'clock, as Mr LW is on early shift and working from home. So I've been getting lunch ready (just has to be cooked), writing letters, catching up with the household accounts (Council Tax bill arrived today:mad::mad:) and tidying out a long overdue kitchen drawer. Got to go out later, too - to take 5 bags of grass to the tip, bank a cheque (for recycled old mobile phone) and then the dreaded Morrisons run. I just hope Mr LW doesn't decide he wants to go to the pub tonight. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
bz, so sorry to hear about your Aunt. Really chuffed that she got the letter though. That will be a great comfort to you in times to come I hope. Remember we're all here for you to lean on when it's needed and I'm just the other end of the phone - charger re-united with phone now!
kass Sorry to hear about your OH's work situation. Good on you for staying positive. What a great GP to admit that she's not really aware of Lyme and implications and that you can both individualy research and then put heads together in the future.
LW, any chance you can have a lie down and rest for a bit beafore the dreaded Morrisons run? Way to go on tidying out "that" kitchen drawer. We've all got one of those, or two, or three *g*
suep, I'll pop book in the post today and fully intend to get the others in Waterstones later, so will post those on to you as and when I finsh them. I think you're going to have to forward them onto Unity as she has expressed an interest already!
reah, if you have built in bookcases, can I come and live with you? I have books all over the place despite shelving in living room and bedroom. They're in boxes under the bed, piles in the bathroom for bath reading etc. suep I should add that any crinkling of the book I'm sending is as I read it in the bath. You may be able to smell the Lush on it!
I have to head out to a nearby big Mr T's today as my local one has stopped doing the cheap Tuna cat food tha Rosie is fondest of. Don't you hate it when they do that?!
I'll do my best not to stray into the electronic gadget area or the books - that could be disastrous!
p.s. Sharon starts her Radiotherapy today - let's all send her some love.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
