Thank you for the welcome and the quick answer, I was just looking it up and have found some info on polymyalgia and can see what you are saying. The doc offered me steroids but I have been desparately trying to lose weight and have lost nearly 4 stone and he thought the steroids wouldn't help. He wants to treat me homeopathically but I have so much pain and immobility I am not so sure!!!
Hi Tiggersue,
Crumbs you are so lucky to have a doctor who is open to complimentary therapies :T - you should introduce him to the dinosaur Elliot has to deal with:rotfl:. I found homoeopathy very helpful. Luckily I did a course prior to being diagnosed and it was the homoeopath who first suggested FMS and told me which specialist to see. She had previously sorted out my menstrual probs with three little tablets in 24 hours, when the grannycologist wanted to whip out my womb .
The really great thing about homoeopathy is that it doesn't interfere with conventional medicine at all, you can take both and the big plus is that you don't get side-effects from homoeopathic treatment.
Good luckSome people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

.
Bluddy Norah S/E - I didn't know you could order that! :rotfl:
Mind you a trolley full of Henry Cavill, David Tennant and Hugh Jackman would increase my endorphins and help the pain tooNow, how quick can I get my order in?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

All being well but I have no medication or further help - I hurt. I need help and he's not giving it
Hi Elliot, if you aren't getting the help you need, do think seriously about changing doctors - yours seems like a right dinosaur:rolleyes:. I'm sorry if I seemed confrontational in my first reply - but it's him I am mad at, not you. Quite a few of us on here have run the gamut of docs like this - there's one on my panel too, so I never ever see him.
The idea of your doc sending you to see a counsellor is so patronising  in other words it's all in your mind isn't it? He thinks you have an 'eggshell' personality and counselling will cure your pain. I really have no patience with doctors like this, they shouldn't be doctors because they don't possess an enquiring mind or the compassion to try and help. He's basically done the blood tests and that is as far as he is prepared to go.
If you really don't want to change docs then I'd suggest you gather as much info on FMS/ME and take along printouts to your next appointment. Tell him that the WHO recognises FMS is not psychological and that he needs to update his thinking.
I feel so angry that we have to fight to get treatment, it is absolutely soul destroying to have to cope with this pain - without the disbelief exhibited by docs who can't basically be bothered. Good grief they get paid enough to bother.
Good luck with whatever you decide but don't expect counselling to ease the pain - it's in your muscles, not your head petal. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Unity sorry hun, I have replied at last
I love your advice to Elliot, you are definitly coming with me to my next doctors visit, you can come and stay for the night, it's not that far is it ?
Oh poor Auntie axe I could have got your shopping when I went to Asda this morning, I go round on one of their scooters and dh follows behind with the trolley, it would only be about aan 8 hour round trip to drop it off
seriously I hope your house fairy can get your shopping, Im worried about you now.
I think we are all going to have to move near each other, so we can help each other out when one is poorly, it will be a great big Fibro commune :rotfl:
It's ok Ive not been at the gin again, I just have an overactive imagination
I know, it's a pity we are not nearer - but I'd have an even longer trip than you would with CWTA's shopping:eek:.
I fully approve of the big Fibro commune - it would make swapping books a lot easier too;). I meant to say that I gave up on the Susannah Clarke one - "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell". Now there is a book that needs a good editor - if it were half as long it might be twice as good :rotfl:. I really don't know how some of these 'debut' novels get passed the slush pile. It's been quite a while since I read a good book, I think it may have been the latest Graham Joyce 'Memoirs of a Master Forger' under the pseudonym William Heaney.
I do find that losing myself in a good book - fiction or non-fiction is a great help, together with knitting.
CWTA was it you mentioned about the audio books free site? I joined last night and am looking forward to downloading some interesting things to listen to whilst knitting. I even found that poem about the 'One Eyed Yellow Idol to the north of Kathmandu' :rotfl:
BZ I loved the wedding site and will pass on details to DD2. It's a great idea when your friends are scattered all over the globe.
Hello Sunshine - enjoy! Funny but that's often the standard greeting in our house, especially when youngest - DS gets back from uni.
That's my lot for today - hope you all have a good one :T.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Hello again everyone
Sorry for not being around much lately. My cat was poorly. She died this morning, so I'm not at my best. There is a big empty space inside me. She was 20 and my very best friend. I am trying not to cry but I miss her so much already. Also have my Incapacity Benefit medical tomorrow so am not at my best today. Will read up on all the posts I've missed during the day. Get back to you all later.
Hope you are all well and have a stress and pain-free day
Hugs to all :0)0 -
elliot good luck with the counsellor and nurse, they may have more time to listen to you?? i know you were probably wanting the blood tests to tell you something but at least they didnt show anything worrying
believe me thats worse.
Thank youI was hoping for at least an inkling of something but apparently they were all normal and there's pretty much only the nurse/counsellor he can do.
Elliot there is a Fibro clinic in London , you can either go private or ask your gp to refer you (if he will) you can find out more info on fibro on
www.fibroaction.org I also found this site useful when I was first dx
www.ukfibromyalgia.comThere's no way on earth he would refer me, and I couldn't afford to go private. I am considering moving to a different doctor so you never know!

Thank you, I really do appreciate itI understood it wasn't me you were angry with, don't worry! I know how you feel, I practically was in tears this morning to the nurse begging her for help - I even had my mum in there with me trying to get some more.
I'm seriously considering moving, I'm going to ask a few people how their doctors are to try and find a 'good one' as it were. I'm fed up of trying to fight to prove how low I feel - like I know everyone is.
The nurse couldn't really do much as she said she'd only been given five minutes at that appointment for a chat. [Five minutes isn't long enough to say hello, how are you?!' ridiculous amoun of time!] but she has booked me a longer one for Thursday so who knows.
Elliot if you don't think your symptoms are getting the proper response then I think you should definitely consider transferring to a different doctor. I know that it's a complete faff but it can really make or break you in terms of how you deal with any conditions you might have. Give it some serious thought?
Thank you - I definatley am interested in moving - like I said up there I'm gonna look into it
You're all awesome, thank you so much for the lift! I hope you all have a lovely dayHomer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.

So sorry my loveI lost my baby (Yorkie) in June of last year when he had to be PTS. There's a lovely poem called Rainbow Bridge that brings tears to the eyes but it is really really comforting.
So sorry for your loss:grouphug: :grouphug: :kisses3:

Blimey Unity, you were on a mission today, weren't ya?
Bushbaby sorry you're having such a hard time at the moment. I can't really offer you any further help except perhaps a hug?
Elliot, it can take a while to diagnose things like Fibro and the like (took them 18 months from me being signed off sick on a pretty much permanent basis, and I don't have a dinodoc!) so I would recommend that if you're going to move docs that you do it sooner rather than later... My (numerous) blood tests also all came back fine, but it didn't stop him referring me on!!
Welcome Sunshine
I've just woke up from a running away from German occupation dream and I had to leave OH's dogs behind. It was heart breaking, even in a dream! My two month long cold is really beginning to take the pee now, and I might have to stay in bed a wee bit longer before attempting to rummage for food... Especially as it's blowing a gale outside which just makes the prospect sound even chillier!

By the edge of a wood at the foot of the hill, Is a lush green meadow where time stands still, Where friends of a man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done, For here between this world and the next , Is a place where each beloved creature find's rest ! On this golden land they wait and play till Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer in pain or sadness for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness!!!! Their limbs are restored their health renewed their bodies have healed strength imbuled !!!! They run through the grass without even a care, untill one day they Stop and sniff the air !!! All ears pricked forward, eyes dart side to side, Then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack ! For just that instant their eyes have met Together again person and pet, So they run to each other these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last !! The sadness they felt whilie they were apart has turned into Joy once more in each heart, They embrace with a love that will last forever and side by side they cross over together !!the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0
