theres a couple of threads about it on the benefit board too i discovered...its disgusting, i could easily jon the rants about it since it is my dla that is going to pay for my house fairy, and that pays for my gym membership. im sick of them picking on the frail and disabled, not thatit was any better when they were pickiing on single morhters, or jsa claimants but still. i am glad benefits and work got so many people signed up. we can see how helpful social services etc have been in here to some people and not to others, it will only get worse if it all comes down to them as i bet they wont let them emplo more staff to deal with extra claims for help etc. k ends my soapbox
whitney punished me, she poohed on the doormat, now i know im forgiven.
unity yay for the cancellation, not so so long to wait now then. just as well it came before you booked.
raeh you make sense, at least to me....its easy to forget though until afterwards when its payback time. hope your enjoing the hols.

Unity So pleased you are getting the pain appointment soon - must be a relief for you just knowing it's scheduled in. Also, Yay at the referral to the Rheumi. Your list of symptoms/difficulties should come in really handy then. I had been wondering how things were with you, but figured you would advise when you were in the mood or had the time.
lw The slugs take no notice of my swearing, but I think the neighbours might *g* Everytime I come across one, I can't help saying "Ooh you !!!!!!" *g* They are seriously getting to me.
pcl Yup, definately punished and forgiven.
Sister piddled me off today -emailed her and said how low Dad was (subtext being pick up the phone to him every so often) and got an email back saying how lucky I was to have the freedom to spend time with him! Hmmm, yup, aren't I lucky to be poorly and unable to work full time.
Also advised her it's Dad's wife's 70th B'day and would she contribute towards getting her a new laptop - in her most generous offer, she agreed to chip in £20. You know the saying, she wouldn't etc on you if you were on fire? *sigh*I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
cwts have you tried salt for the slugs? she would soon change her tune if the positions were reversed, if only it was as nice to have the freedom fo not working as people think it is.0

CwtA you could try beer traps for the slugs. Best use I can think of for Greene King IPA.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

PCL - I hope you've had the e-mail to tell you that over 5,000 people have signed up to the petition against them scrapping DLA :j. I wonder how many members you have been personally responsible for? To think they worried they probably wouldn't get the 1,000 in a month and they've got five times that in the first 24 hours :T:T:T. Good on you girl! Yes, I can't quite believe that it's only three weeks until the injections - I'm so pleased :j.
LW - Thank you so much for the offer of positive vibes, I will take you up on them as I am quite "positive" they do help:T. Like I said, it's not a very nice proceduremade worse by having to lie very still on my front. It's done in theatre with an X-ray machine positioned over my lumbar spine. They inject some local anaesthetic and then they take a long thin needle and working with the X-ray they insert it and head towards the facet joints on the lumbar spine. It gets a bit difficult with me because I have the old pelvic fracture which has caused an overgrowth of bone - so they need to work around this, then I think they use lignacaine to freeze the nerves. Once this is done they go in with the epidural and try to find the sciatic nerve - this is done with a huge pad (the sensation is like a large TENS machine) and they stimulate the nerve to make sure they have the right one, so I can feel it right down my thigh, my calf and into my foot - then they numb it as well. The whole procedure is uncomfortable and makes me feel a bit nauseous _pale_ - but the feeling in the recovery room is second to none (especially as the local anaesthetic is still working
) as the spinal pain disappears. After thrity odd years of pain on a daily basis, this is really something
.
CWTA Try grapefruit skins for the slugs;) my aunt used to swear by them. I haven't seen a rheumi in probably five years or so - so I'm hoping it might be productive. I had one day (yesterday) when I felt back to - what I would call normal, for meand I thought it was the end of the flare (probably what prompted me to look at holidays) but today the blisters are back, together with swollen glands and the joint pains have returned with a vengeance. Added to this is a really bad pain in my left foot. It's not the joint, it's running along the outside edge and I'm finding it very painful to walk on.
I met up with a friend at lunchtime to excahnge knitting magazines. DH dropped me off, as although it is quite close, it is up a steep hill and I said I would walk back. I rather wished I hadn't as my foot was hurting so much - it took me ages to walk 500 yards .
Suep - well here's one cat lover that thinks it's great!
I have started on the knitted squares for this: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Get_Involved/Worlds_Biggest_Coffee_Morning/theknitter.aspx
so far I have completed one :embarasse. Mind you a few people have been asking why cancer patients would need blankets and it is a valid point - I am sure my good friend with BC would prefer I knitted a cover for her wine bottle.
I am shattered again now so whilst I am still making some sense - hopefully anywayI'm going to get on with the knitting
.
