  • Hello everyone!
I've been suffering so much this week. Went to sleep on 12 hot water bottles last night, as they ease my arthritis a little, and let me go to sleep.

I have a question, if anybody wouldn't mind answering...how did you get officially diagnosed? What did you take to the doctors that proved you had ME/ what tests, etc?

And has anyone seen a rheumatologist for ME? Seems a bit bizarre to me.

    Thanks everyone :)

Hi Saucy, I was dxd in 1994 with fibro and ME by a rheumatologist who tested me for the trigger points http://arthritis.about.com/b/2005/07/20/fibromyalgia-trigger-points.htm At my next appointment he added the diagnosis of ME.

Both these diagnoses were secondary to widespread osteoarthritis, cervical and lumbar spondylosis, scoliosis and early onset osteophytosis. I was referred following an accident whilst on holiday and this seemed to spark the fibro. I had started with pain in one hip and this quickly affected both hips, the pain felt like I had done a really hard workout and soon I had the classic pains in all muscle groups.

    I hope this helps.

  • unity It's all coming together again now - I remember. Gawd, my memory is terrible these days.

I now have a vegetable bed - Paul's just finished building it. I'll get it creosoted this weekend and arrange the various pots I have and then take a photo when it looks a bit better.

p.s. black paw I saw a small 30 litre bio-thingy on Ebay along with all the bits and pieces you need for it for £30 the other day - I'll try to find the link again if you're interested?
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Thanks so much :) It was really helpful. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist on Wednesday, to be officially diagnosed, and to get the letters I need to send to uni, etc. I'm not sure whether to take the diaries I've been taking that show how much I sleep/the pain I'm in, or if he'll know what he needs to look for...

My doctors lovely, but rubbish at sorting me out right now. He just throws painkillers at me

take the diaries as they really are an assett to show patterns and speak volumes.when you get to the drs you will typically be fuddled so these will be big help.
Good luck and welcome here think l missed your arrival-been a difficult week.

I'll counter that by asking how many tops are you planning to wear to your hen do?:D
    Um...just the one :D
bz In answer to how many tops etc, you can buy as many as you like as it's your hen night :D I'm a bad influence :p
Lol! You're terrible. I ended up buying 3. I bought one a bit ago, a turquiose linen one, from tesco I think...then I saw a purple long one (like those dress/tunics) in Asda and got that one too...(well I do have to go to Sarah's hen do, and her wedding, in something ;)) and then I wasn't satisfied that either would look dressy enough with my dark jeans (I so don't do dresses or skirts)...so of course I had to look again ;) I ended up with this from Next and settled on that :) Whaddya think?

Good point, all the others who asked me obviously didn't read all the way down either - but I suspect they'd already succumbed to looking at the patterns to download. I still bet my dear friend with BC would still prefer the knitted wine bottle holder :D:D:D.
    It did make me chuckle!!

    No way!! LOL :rotfl:
I'd love to say I can't believe it, about the "recreational" use, but I'd be lying.:cool:

  • bz That top is lovely! Definately a favourite - good job I wasn't planning to wear it to the wedding *g*

Despite all your reservations, I do hope you have a seriously good time tomorrow night. It's gonna make THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY seem that much closer too!

I am seriously tuckered out and I think I'm realising how much running around doing jobs and chores during the day is taking it out of me. Don't anyone say "I told you so" *g*

I got referred to an endocrinologist, originally, to see whether anything was hormone based...the endocrinologist I got referred to had retired so I got referred to someone else...who specialised in ME! She spotted the signs of ME and said I had all the 8 markers for it.
Then I had some pain in my chest that was put down to mastitus (an infection of the milk ducts, which normally only happens after you've given birth...I have no kids). Eventually I saw an Out Of Hours doc who diagnosed the pain I was suffering as Fibro pains and put me on the Amitriptyline. He checked trigger points when I was there and listened. I could've kissed him for the difference it made!

It actually looks nice on too! It's a pleasure to find something that doesn't require being built like a skinny rannock to get away with it  And the belt comes with it and is actually adequate for the size on the top, iyswim. Makes a nice change!

Thanks dude. Me too. I'm getting more determined too, despite feeling knackered and run down and having belly cramps
