  • Hello :)
    Can I join the group?
A bit of background...I'm 18, I'm off to uni in September to study law and criminology and I'm currently fighting DLA.
I have 'suspected although regularly confirmed' rheumatoid arthritis, spinal strain and am trying to get tested for fibromyalgia, although the doctor I saw proclaimed testing me was 'useless' as I'm already 'poorly enough'!

It gets me down alot, because some days it kills me to move at all. I also struggle because I don't have much support, my parents and I don't talk, so a support group would be really helpful :)

I play tennis when I can, a few times a week, usually in a lot of pain but I try to stay active. I love to cook, and read, and I'm learning Italian.

    So that's me...Hi everyone :)

Aww welcome Saucy, everyone here is very friendly I've only been here a few days and i feel i can understand my illness a bit better knowing I'm not on my own, and you aren't on your own.

I got diagnosed on Monday and have had 3 days of being sorry for myself etc, today i have woken up deciding that 3 days was long enough thank you very much and have decided i need to be positive,
OH is taking his friend to buy some dvd thing and has said i am going too for some fresh air :), so i'll be sat in the car most of the time but i can watch the world go by. ohh and i need an onion, got mince beef in the fridge needs to be cooked today so its shephards pie for tea, cheated and bought mashed potato yesterday so today my son (he doesn't know it yet) will be making sheppards pie
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

    Afternoon all.

Welcome Saucy; there's lots of support available here. Sorry to hear that you and your parents don't get along - I know that feeling well. Haven't spoken to any of my family in well over 7 years!

Jo sorry about the continued DLA fight - stay strong, mate, don't let the bar-stewards get you down!

BZ are you any better today? You seem to have had such a run of bad luck lately; I just wish there was some way I could help.

Auntie Axe yes, I do like baking, when I have the physical strength to do it, - but we can only eat so much food! We need to eat up what I've already made before I do any more, I think.:D Not that it'd be a problem for Mr LW, but we do have to think of his waistline.:D

I've been getting some really weird pains in my legs - feels like the thighbones are being eaten by something from inside, iyswim. Not sure what's going on there - it's even like it when I'm lying down. Oh well, wait long enough and it'll get fed up and go away.

I now have three books ordered from Amazon, and only paying £5.12 instead of £25.12, thanks to doing online surveys. I may have to look at shoehorning in another bookcase at some point (goodness knows where we'd put it though).

Mr LW has just phoned to say he's got nearly everything on the shopping list (he couldn't find the chewing gum) so that's a weight off my mind; he's on call this weekend, so I didn't want to have to go to the supermarket, in case we got stuck in a queue and he got called for work.

Oh dear, I seem to be waffling - better shut up I guess, before you all drop off to sleep.:o Hope everyone is having as good a day as they can.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

I fell asleep around 6am and woke up about 2pm ish. I was too tense to go to sleep when I got to bed so started listening through the iPod playlists for the wedding to sort the wheat from the chaff...then my iPod died and I had a bit of a panic hoping it would come back to life! Finally got it working again (PHEWF!) and then eventually slept. Sometimes I don't mind being up late cos it means I get stuff fone that I don't generally do at normal times (I used to to housework when I couldn't sleep) but it's nice to know that I have the sleeping pills there as an option and GP reckoned they'd take about 20mins to kick in, so shouldn't take too long from desperation point ;)

Thanks for the thought though lw (et al. ;)). I'm just struggling to get back up again to fight another day atm... it's taking a bit longer this time

I've had those pains too Lw. I think it's one of those things you just have to get through - I've not really found anything that helps tbh :o

Oh and we like the rambling ;)

Horrible feeling isn't it paparika? My sympathies :o I hate it when something that should just be an in and out job turns into a stroll around with standing around while someone debates getting something or not... It's the standing about/not being able to move at my own pace that sometimes wrecks me more - do you find it the same? I won't even consider going to some sort of shop where lots of "dillydallying" is required without going in the wheelchair, so I'm not required to stand about. Queues kill me too.

Did you try the kpix games pcl?

How much do they say you owe BZ?

Is it the £16.20 check-up fee, or more? To do a referral, they would have had to do a check-up at least - to check the condition requiring referral, and to refer you to the most appropriate person.

A patient would usually pay the fee at the end of the appointment.
It is just the check up fee Toothsmith. I just object to paying it on principle really. I hate that I have to pay for anything that I would've gotten free when I was working (because of Working Tax Credits for being partially deaf) but now that I'm so much worse than "just" being deaf, I have to pay for everything because the system screws you over. I think it's ridiculous that on Income Support you don't need to pay for anything prescription related, but when you're on Incapacity Benefit - which is health related for crying out loud! - you have to pay for them! Sorry, rant over...for now ;) I object in this instance particularly though because I went back to reception after my visit with the dentist and they never mentioned that there was a charge required. The only reason I went was to get referred to the dental hospital - which I already knew would be necessary cos I'd been told so before - which they STILL haven't done. And the receptionist bird seems incapable of doing what she says she's doing/done. If they'd actually provided a flipping service I might be more amenable to paying...
Thank you for your usual helpfulness Toothsmith. You're a bit of a star!.

btw Toothsmith, bz has a recurring abcess - please confirm to the scardy cat (grin) that she'll feel soooo much better when it has been sorted out as it really seems to have been grumbling under and dragging her down.

    Tons better!

I have 2 or 3 patients with fibromyalgia. It's never really been an issue with any of them dental-wise - apart from a bit of trouble getting comfy in the chair sometimes.

I appreciaite the nature of it can be different in different people though.
Why do I feel like Cwta enlisted the help of Toothsmith in order to gang up on me...?:rolleyes:
I know it'll be better when it's done Cwta - I just wasn't that bothered about it when it wasn't bothering me, iyswim. Now it is I want it out, and it would seem my spectacularly helpful dentist is not helping things along...
Thanks tho Toothsmith. I'd love to find a better dentist, but am not really sure how do to it when it seems so difficult to get one in the first place....I'm sooo disappointed that my old dentist retired. :( How very dare he?! ;)

  • Damn my fog! I thought there was only Toothsmith's reply and thought it was quiet on here and just found this other page *g*

I had a really nice day today - went to NT place which is a beautiful gardens, left Dad having coffee whilst I did the mystery shop then we went off to a pub that does wonderful food for lunch. Dad was on great form and a pleasure to be with so lots of laughs. He wore the T-Shirt I got him as part of his Father's Day pressie which has "The Man. The Legend. My Dad." on it *g* Silly sod.
Couldn't quite decide whether to go and have a snooze or not, but have decided to sit and read for a while - it's been weeks since I picked up a book and I miss it.

Welcome saucy. Sorry to hear you're having a tough time at the moment. Stick around and let off steam when you need to.

pap It's not the shopping or the queueing, it's other people!! I shall ask for a sub-machine gun for Xmas *g*

lw There's always room for another bookcase *g* I like to hear what you've been up to so it's not waffling - and we miss you when you're not around.

pcl There must be some other sites that have puzzles you can try? Have you tried deleting the registry key and starting a new free trial?!

bz How about taking a sleeping pill tonight and giving it a go? At least it would give you a chance to catch up on your rest a bit?

Hope you're all sitting with you feet up.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Hi everyone ... I'm back again!

I know you are right about going back to the doc, and bigzippy said the same. I just feel a bit of a nuisance going to see the doc again and having to say that my body hurts so much now that the meds don't seem to be working! I have to say that the past few months I have been a lot worse and am struggling. I also don't want to admit that I'm not coping very well.
    Welcome back tobruk :)
Be warned...we have been known to both gang up on people (for their own benefit o' course ;)) and have a bit of an "always right" complex...you're only feeding that by telling us we're right! ;):p
I hope you do take action and book in with your GP tho - and get some more effective meds. We've all changed meds loads because we've realised after a while that we're not keen on the sideeffects/"break thru" pain/effectiveness... there's nothing wrong in wanting the appropriate treatment for your issues tho - so go out there and get it :D
We all know how difficult it is to admit that we're not coping well - but I have to say that admitting it to yourself is the hardest bit...letting others know isn't as bad as you think it will be. Damn our pride, eh? ;)

Oh and Jo - don't feel guilty about not keeping up with us and our lives/stories - we barely manage it and we're saddos that hang around here all the time ;):p Besides, as a back up, I'm apparently not too bad at doing round ups of us all ;)
