Yeah it's sounding really good for her and I can take DS1 down to join sea cadets too. They are giving me this week free and said I can wait a few weeks to make sure she enjoys it before I have to get her uniform - I told her I was going to ask her dad to help with money and she said she doesn't want anything to do with him  She's 14 suep and not really very confident so I was really surprised yesterday when she said she was happy to go off with the marines and let me come back for her later! She doesn't seem to like herself very much and covers it up by being loud and bolshy but she has no self confidence underneath the cockiness. I'm getting really annoyed with her grandma atm as she keeps commenting on her weight but then giving her allsorts of carp to eat

Why is it that when you have the least money, everything seems to cost you at every turn! I've paid for half of DS1's trip with school - £135 for two nights  - and now they've sent a kit list home as long as me arm!!! My god the things they want me to buy him for two nights! Luckily his dad has helped out but I don't know where I'm going to get the rest from. I was thinking you might know raeh, can I pay for the rest of his trip when he comes back? I don't want to be subsidised by others but surely they won't say he can't go if I still owe a bit towards it? At least I got my tyre sorted. It had become very dangerous because I didn't have the money to get the slow puncture fixed so the constant inflating and deflating had caused it to start tearing at the seam which apparently can cause it to have a blowout. I was driving to school and back at twenty mile an hour, petrified something would happen!

The landlord says it will be ready by the end of the month which seemed a long time when I went to see it last week but it's only a couple of weeks :T Told my sister to start getting me some boxes from her work and keeping my fingers crossed that my money comes through in time. Myself and Auntie axe will have to have a joint virtual housewarming party. Keep the noise down though, don't forget my house has an ASBO :D

I'm so lucky. It's in the right area with an enclosed yard, a backstreet - where all the kids seem to play -, a shower and central heating :j I'm easily pleased aren't I LOL

Better get a move on. Got to see to my senile father before I meet the landlord. He has all his faculties but just can't be @rsed using them......why bother when you can get everybody else to do everything for you! Can't wait til he gets back to work, it's like talking to a child!

    Aaaaawwww lw, that is luvverly!
  • Hey all
Jo Nice to see you back. I hope your battles are over successfully soon.

fernakapan Welcome to the thread. You'll find lots of support and laughs here.

Sue So sorry you are having another flare with your bladder. You're having a bad time recently - hope it passes soon. I hope you're getting them all over before your holiday. I've located the boxes of books now, so will have to get some off to you in readiness.
Such good news about your Dad - you must be thrilled.

lw Those words are lovely - really touching. I remember Pam Ayres too - particularly "I wish I had looked after my teeth" *g*

kass Good news about signing the contracts. I promise you that you'll start to feel better and more relaxed once you have moved. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

bz Hope you're not running around after MIL2B too much and are taking some time to relax and rest and that you and DF are recovering from the various infections.

pcl Weird isn't it that we can wake when we absolutely need to, to get something done but not the rest of the time. I hope you are Whitney are cuddling up together nicely.

I'm still just pottering around today as most of the boxes are in the right place now, so it's just a matter of unpacking and straightening everything out. s/e has a single bed that she's gonna let me have for my spare room which is gonna save me having to buy one - very MSE!
Met Dad for lunch and he's having fun planning the garden for me - it keeps him quiet and makes him feels useful and productive. Doesn't matter whether I implement them or not so long as he feels he's [STRIKE]interfered[/STRIKE] involved. :D:rolleyes:
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

CwtA, Mr LW's take on moving is that as long as the kettle, tea caddy and mugs are unpacked, everything else can wait! LOL

I'm having a relatively restful day today; apart from the baking yesterday, we both spent last evening preparing elderflowers for making wine. It's somewhat labour-intensive; I have to leave it to stand for 3 days in the cauldron, and then strain it into demijohns, so I must get Mr LW to go up into the loft and fetch those down for me. I haven't made elderflower wine for about 10 years, so I hope it turns out ok.

kass I've sent you an email about HH. Glad the house move is coming along and I hope you can get everything sorted for the kids and money etc...:o

suep I feel your pain - well not exactly, but I've got this sneaking suspicion that my bladder is inflamed or something, as I feel the pain of a full bladder but can't always go... but not entirely sure if it's not just period pain (tmi?)...:o

Lw thanks for the quote... really not sure what we're going with, and it's always awkward when you have to match up a reading to a person that's capable of doing it justice - iyswim? I can't even imagine doing something so intensely domesticated as making elderflower wine!!

Cwta I've only seen mil2b once in the last week and didn't do any running around - I'm FAR too goosed for that.

I've got the funeral tomorrow, and not sure what to do about what to wear, or how to get there. Brother is saying that he would want to leave either straight after the service or max 30mins into the wake thing...which doesn't really feel relaxing. Plus he's always running late and I think the stress of that possibility would freak me, esp as I wouldn't have the control of driving - but it would save us money on the petrol and we could leave an hour later than from here so wouldn't have to get up *quite* as early. We'd have to have everything ready to leave and be on the way there not long after DF gets home from work though, to make it worth going and seeing them this evening, and we're just not that organised... esp as I still feel lousy. And we'd have to have sorted mil2b and the dogs out before going...And I still need a shower and to straighten my hair (and although I've now found the long lost straighteners I can't find my comb...) I'm still not sure what I'm gonna wear either as I don't really have nice things to wear, and the ones I still own either don't fit or don't go with the crop tops I own as underwear and I don't think I have a bra that actually fits anymore...:o and even if I did the travelling would add to the day's un-comfort. *sigh*

BZ I think if it was me, I'd want to make my own way there - like you said, not having someone else in control and having to stress over whether they're running to schedule or not...... Whatever you decide, I hope the day isn't too stressful for you. I wish I lived near to you - I'd have the little woofers for the day, no problem.

Awww ta Lw :oThey're going back to mil2b...she should be having her drain out tomorrow but I've told her that under no circumstances is she to allow them to take it out without some sort of scan to see whether the abcess has been completely drained or not! (The dentist wouldn't fill up a root canal without doing an xray to check the abcess had gone first would they?!) Don't get me started on those imbeciles again though. I wish one of us could go with her, but alas we'll be in London and she'll have to go alone.

I think we will go down under our own steam and give Derby a miss. There's strive between SIL and bro anyway and I cba with the drama, plus by the time we'd've got our ..."stuff" together it would be too late to have seen them before bed anyway. Plus DF wouldn't have a proper bed, it'd be a mattress on the floor job and it doesn't seem worth it. Now to the clothing issue....

It's a good job I'd decided we weren't going to SIL/bro's tonight - BIL's just rung and asked for a lift cos sister's car's broken down and his has just failed the MOT! Looks like we'll have a couple of extra passengers... It's practically on the way tho, so it's no big deal, and BIL said that he'll pitch in on petrol costs so that makes things a bit easier :)

BZ I hope tomorrow is as stress free as possible, and that you find something to suitable to wear. I know what you mean, I only have casual clothes these days as I dont go anywhere where I need to dress up. I hope you havn't got a bladder infection, thats all you need tomorrow.

pcl I hate waking up in the mornings, I think dh said we've got to be up about 3.30 am for our flight next week  I will have to go to bed around 4.00pm the day before.

cwta Ooow yes please to any book donations for the holiday if you have time. Im glad your getting organised now.

Kass Im sure schools always used to let you pay by installments for these holidays, Id get on to them as soon as you can. Your new house sounds ideal.

Thankyou so much lw & cwta for remembering Pam Ayres, I was begin ing to think Id imagined her :D
