:rotfl:Oh bless you BZ, I just knew you were gonna say that :rotfl:
She used to go on telly and say these funny poems that she'd wrote in a thick country accent, possibly somerset but Im only guessing, I was only a kid at the time. She was on Paul OGrady recently, either that or the gardening bloke on itv in the afternoons chat show, you can tell Im tired
Just remembered why I came on. Ive had a call from my Dad who had his scan last week, the tumours shrunk enough for him to have his op and he's having it next week :j Im going on holiday at stupid 0'clock on wednesday morning next week so will have to get dd or my sister to call and let me know how he is.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Eh up folks. Just saying a quick hello and letting you know I'm still alive. Busy with work, but I've had a fair wee bit of time off recently which has helped. And I'm definitely reducing my hours next year. It's a bit terrifying, what with the loss of income, but I just can't keep this up. DLA reconsideration got turned down, so I'm meeting CAB next week to put in an appeal. And so the battle goes on!
Big Zippy. The lyrics of my favourite wedding song, by a singer songwriter called John Spillane:
There was a Man
There was a man who took a wife
To walk beside him through his life
They walked through sunshine and through rain
They walked through pleasure and through pain
She wore a dress of yellow gold
She was a wonder to behold
And underneath a purple sky
She was the apple of his eye
And when the moon arose in flight
And stars went blazing in the night
They crept into each other’s dreams
And slept beside a silver stream
They flew together through the air
And landed on a distant shore
They walked along a golden strand
They walked together hand in hand
She was not the easiest woman in the world
To get along with if you understand
But then again on the other hand
He may not have been the easiest man
But when the moon arose in fright
And stars went blazing in the night
They crept into each other’s dreams
And slept beside a silver stream
The world will turn and the rivers flow
The sun will shine and the winds will blow
While angels in the afterglow
Will light their candles in the snow
There was a man who took a wife
To walk beside him through his life
They walked through sunshine and through rain
They walked through pleasure and through pain
She wore a dress of yellow gold
She was a wonder to behold
And underneath a purple sky
She was the apple of his eye0 -
:rotfl:Oh bless you BZ, I just knew you were gonna say that :rotfl:
Who? Me?
Perhaps it's Alan Titchmarsh to which you refer...?
Really pleased that they're progressing with your Dad's treatment suep:dance:
Hi Jo, glad you dropped byGlad you're being proactive about reducing your hours, and sorry to hear about the DLA reconsideration...I won't use the expletives that come to mind to describe them....needless to say, they suck! I hope you have more luck with the appeal
Thanks for the lyrics too, they're nice - I shall forward them to DF for his consideration...:)
"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
pcl- I've done that and some work and some don't
bz- Yes please chick! I'm getting all excited for you now!!!
suep- Thanks love, I got some pennies today but spent them all on a tyre for the car and school uniforms!!! I was at a friends on Saturday so she fed us then on Sunday the kids were at my sisters so they were fine.
lw- I can smell that baking from here0 -
morning everyone. i slept in this morning..but i stayed awake way later than normal last night so thats why i got the extra two hours this morn. ah well.
jo good to see you, sorry about the dla, good luck with meeting with cab and the appeal.
sue hope your dads operation goes fine next week, and you remember to have a good time and relax while away despite it happening on the day you go. i had no idea who pam ayers is either.
kass thats a bummer, i dpont understand why some would work and some not, hopefully if bz sends it you can get it to work that way.0 -
Morning!!
Which would you prefer then pcl, going to bed earlier and getting up early or going to bed later and getting up later? I'd say getting up late but it's hardly that is it!
suep, I'm sorry love I seem to have missed your post about your dad. I must be too wrapped up in myself atmThat's great news though and I'm really pleased for you and your family.
I'm sorry if I've missed other peoples goings on. I'm sure my head will come round - as much as it ever will - when I've moved and feel more relaxed.
Meeting the landlord today to sign contracts. It will probably seem more real then. He's having some electrical work done as well as the decorating so at least I know it will all be sound when I move in.
I took DD1 to the marine cadets last night to see if she fancied joining. They let her stay for the full two hours and she said she didn't even want to bother going to air cadets tonight as she has decided she wants to join marines :T There's only one other girl in the marines, the rest are all in the sea cadets but I [STRIKE]think[/STRIKE] hope she will enjoy it. I've been told by a few people that they were little beggars until they joined and it really sorted them out so fingers crossed0 -
kass that sounds like fun for your dd. hope she sticks to it
i dunno which i prefer actually, the days are too long either way round, but at least when im getting up early on days when i ahve to be somewhere early i dont have to get people to phone me and ensure im up, which is so weird its unbelievable.
yay contracts signed will be super, when will you be able to move then?0 -
JO Those lyrics are beautiful, Im sorry aboutt he DLA, good luck with the CAB
Kass Im really pleased your signing the contracts, it's good to know you'll be more settled soon. How olds dd1 ? good for her with wanting to join the marine cadets, especially with there being only one other gIirl there, it shows she's confident. I could never get any of mine to join anything except ds2 went to karate for a couple of years until he discovered skateboarding, which he did for another couple of years until he discovered girls
Ive got another bladder flare up, so I hardly had any sleep last night with the pain, so I'll probably go back to bed after lunch. Hope everyones having a good day.
Somebody must remember Pam Ayres !Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Afternoon all.
Oh Suep you poor thing, much sympathy with the bladder probs. And while I remember to say, I hope all goes well for your Dad.
Jo nice to see you - sorry about the DLA decision - keep on fighting!
Yes I do remember Pam Ayres - she were an Oxfordshire gal - first came to fame on Radio Oxford, umpty-ump years ago.
BZ while we're talking about wedding readings, we had the words of Chief Dan George, of the Coast Salish:
SOMETHING WE MUST HAVE
Love is something you and I must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy it ourselves.
With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
sue hope you manage to have a decent nap this morning and feel better soon.0
