Oh Saffie how I wish I had answers for you. I don't know why some men change so much - I wonder if it's that they just can't deal with the situation? My ex was never a very "good" husband (VERY controlling, and unfaithful to boot) but when I became ill, he became positively abusive. Mr LW is totally the opposite - but he KNEW what he was taking on at the outset. Perhaps that's the difference. *Sigh* I hope someone with more wisdom than me will be here soon with some thoughts.

Kass, I was originally dx'd with rheumatoid arthritis, but when I moved to Milton Keynes (and therefore saw a different rheumatologist rather than the series of locums I'd had at Oxford) she thought some things didn't add up - as in I was getting additional symptoms that "just" RA shouldn't have given me, and ordered loads more blood tests. It was on the basis of those that she diagnosed lupus. I'm not sure if I ever had any details - I suspect not, as our hospital are not big on giving the patient information and I'm usually too "out of it" to ask, and I don't, unfortunately, retain information in my poor beleaguered brain, but I think it's something to do with certain antibodies.
EDIT: Aha, CwtA is on the ball today.

On a lighter note. Can somebody please tell me what these are doing? :grouphug:

I put it in one of my messages but it was only when I noticed it in someone elses that I thought how rude it looked  I then rolled my mouse over it and it says 3some!!!! That's certainly not how it is advertised :rotfl:

    Hi Kass,

That medear is a group hug smilie :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:- but thank you so much, you have really made me laugh:T:T:T.

Belated birthday greetings Trialia - glad you enjoyed the SF Ball. I think I replied to your post just after you went off so you missed all my reminiscences of Worldcon '79 in Brighton. I was proposing that SF is probably much more TV orientated these days compared to back then when it was all books and movies.

Saff, I hope things get sorted for your DH. Whatever it is I am sure there's either a cure or some help these days.

LW - I'm thinking of you, families are difficult at the best of times and bluddy awful at the worst of them, but friends are the family we choose for ourselves and you have some great supportive sisters on here;).

CWTA how's your finger? It was you wasn't it? I haven't gone and dreamed it have I?

Did anyone see the Horizon programme on dreaming last night? I have one of those masks with the flashing lights and buzzer. Of course I just incorporated it into my dreams as a fire-engine, but I've retrieved it from the bedside drawer, put the batteries on to charge and dug out the books on lucid dreaming again :D.

Does anyone have Sharon's postal address? I'm not asking for it - I just thought if someone had it I could maybe forward a card on to them (with the stamp) and they could send it on.

    Love to everyone,
    Unity
Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever :D
  • Unity, I had wondered if anyone had sharon's address too, but the thought disappeared into the ether. As Raeh said earlier, we've all bonded so much that it does feel really "personal".
I did go to Nurse Practitioner today as finger was all throbby etc, and have come away with anti-flybotics.
This afternoon I intend to try to wash my hair which will be amusing
I've always said if my life was a soap opera it would be cited by critics as being unbelievable as I seem to lurch from crisis to crisis.
I will learn to be more careful when I'm tired.

BZ sends her love to all and adds to the good wishes and hugs to sharon. She's going crazy without t'interweb.

    Wolfie, hope you're doing OK.

Someone here mentioned turning into a fire-breathing dragon with hormone tabs and I think I'm turning that way, so am happy to deal with any troublesome hounds.

I do actually intend to get something done today as so far week has been a washout.

Hugs to sharon and to all
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Seaside welcome to you, and thanks for the update on Sharon. We're all rooting for her.

CwtA I'm holding up, thanks for asking, and 'twas me that mentioned hormone tablets turning me into a fire-breathing dragon.:D I'm glad you've got yourself some anti-flybotics, I was concerned when you said the finger wasa bit puffy. Say Hi to BZ for me - she must have major internet withdrawal symptoms by now!

Hi seaside, thank you so much for passing our messages on, we are all thinking constantly about sharon and our positive thoughts are all going her way :)

saffie i hope things improve for you :( my hubby does get fed up at times with things but he says its more of a frustration at himself that he cant do more to help when im feeling very bad? i think the letter is a very good idea, it will help you to get all those frustrations out as well and maybe without just getting cross [as i know i would do if i tried to talk rather than write?] good luck anyway, i really hope thats the break through you need? :) x

hi lw, i hope you are feeling ok :) and i hope mr lw's tooth was ok too ;)

kass you really made me laugh with your 3some ;)

    welcome fairplay :)

cwta im glad you got antibiotics to make sure your finger heals :) i hope you managed your hair ok, its amazing how one finger can make things so hard?

get that broadband sorted bz ;) its too quiet without you

trialia sorry i missed saying happy birthday :o my head was eslewhere, glad you had a good weekend

you lupie people [i said lupie not loopy ;)] started me thinking quite a while ago as when you read the symptoms mine mirror lupus just as much as fibro if not more but i dont know if im just being a hypocondriac and the gp will laugh at me? its just that all these different things i complain of seem far too much some days for fibro? ... shut me up, im just a total hypocondriac :o

have i missed anyone? as i was so ignorant yesterday im trying to remember everyone today ;) so hello all and i hope its a good day :D

What she said, with bells on. Definitely.
Sharon I was gutted when CwtA passed on the news. I'm thinking of and praying for you and your family.

You're not kidding LW!!:rotfl: I'm on countdown! T'other problem is that my sister is over for the week so I can't slope off to MIL2B's quite so much to ease my withdrawals ;) Glad to see you've not all completely run away with the thread without me ;)

Raeh make sure that you rest LOADS after OFSTED. I know it can be exhausting for the most "healthy" of people, so you need to make sure that you take some time out to recover. (So consider yourself told! ;))

Saffie and Kass, I'm sorry your relationships aren't as you'd like them to be. :( I can only echo CwtA's thoughts that maybe you should discuss it with them? Sounds like if things don't dramatically improve that you might be getting to the point of it being the beginning of the end Safie...? I know what LW's saying about knowing from the beginning too, I know that my OH would/will love me no matter what, but I think it does help that he knew what he was taking on from the beginning - even if it only makes a difference to how I see it, iyswim? I have had periods where I've felt guilty for putting so much on him and "burdening" him, but he tells me not to be daft, he knew what he was taking on... Think I'm waffling now...?

Happy Birthday Trialia, was your SF Ball fantastic? Did you manage to pick your jaw up off the floor at any point of the weekend? ;)

CwtA you daft 'apeth! I'd like to say "that'll teach you"... but I know what you're like now ;) :rotfl:

LameWolf we're glad to have you around, so behave! :D Never doubt how interested or not we are, cos we're all big gossips anyway ;)

Fairplay I don't think you'll get the answer you're looking for, to be honest. I think that you'll probably find medical bods who'll agree that there's more than likely a "genetic predisposition", but there's usually something that triggers the onset within each person's life. If you're concerned then I would suggest writing down all the symptoms you consider yourself to suffer from, how often etc, and consult your doctor about it, telling them your concerns about about your list...?

As for me this week, I've been very good and got my OH to trawl me round big shops in wheelchairs (including Tesco last night). It has meant that I've had just enough energy to feed myself and tidy up after myself...but also managed to go shopping (of a fashion) with OH. :) How good have I been to finally swallow some pride??! (C'mon guys, big me up here ;))

Anyways, I should go check the rest of my emails, hopefully I'll pop in again on Friday...
