((((Kass)))) big hugs for you, mate. I didn't have kids to worry about, but I have been in a similar situation house-sharing-wise. Btw, it was Unity had her ID stolen.

CwtA a friend of mine even has cats named Ben and Jerry! As far as ice cream goes, I make my own these days, since Mr LW bought us a little battery-operated ice cream maker that fits neatly in the bottom drawer of the freezer. The most exotic one I've done thus far is Kriek and cherries.:p

*Sigh* I keep putting off getting new underwear. Trouble is, I don't know what size I am these days, and I can't handle the idea of some stranger taking a tape measure to me. Also complicated by the fact that Mr LW has to help me dress, so that makes fitting rooms a bit of a no-go area. Luckily, mine are mostly either black or shocking pink, so they "greyness" doesn't really show. :rotfl:

S/e hmmm..... pacing..... wossat then? never got the hang of it meself.:confused:I tend go into bull-at-a-gate mode, then pay for it for the next three days.

Sharon hope you're having a good day today. Thinking of you.

Don't know why, but my nightmares have returned. Had some really nasty ones the last two nights. Not all the same, either.:eek::eek: I feel I should try to find out what on earth they mean, but they're so unpleasant, I'm not sure I really want to go there.

Had a phone call from an old friend yesterday - she knows I hate phones, but she's not on internet, so we can't email each other. Unfortunately, she always calls to ask how I am, then spends an hour telling me about her troubles. Can be heavy going! Still, if it makes her feel a little better, I've served a useful purpose.:o She lives alone apart from her furbabies; we can't visit each other, as we live 40 miles apart, she hates driving, and I can't manage the 12 steep concrete steps up to her house anymore.

Uh, oh.... I'm waffling. Hi:hello:to all the friends I haven't mentioned by name.

Going to sit down and shut up now.

I may be in teaching granny to suck eggs territory here, but if you can get to a decent sized M&S they frequently have 'disabled' sized changing rooms. It might be an easier place for you to have help with changing and trying on. I made the mistake once of trying on a 'secret support' camisole in Marks. I got it on with a bit of a struggle, but I wasn't wearing my wrist splints at the time so getting it off again was a nightmare. I was on the verge of pulling the assistance cord when I finally managed to struggle out of it.

    Yup, that sounds familiar.

Hmmm.... sounds do-able, as long as they have something underwired and unpadded (yeah, I'm fussy;)). Thing is, I'm a bit worried how they'd be about me having an opposite-sex carer helping me.
I had thought of trying mail-order over the internet, then at least I can try them in the comfort and privacy of my own home, but I have still to establish what size to order in the first place. :confused:Someone kindly sent me a URL of a website which gives instructions on correct measuring, but I've yet to get around to doing it - :whistle:again, requires Mr LW's help, and I feel a bit of a twit having to ask.:embarasse

LOL I'll get there eventually - when my current stuff finally gives up and falls apart.:p:rotfl:LOL I must be one of the few women who can procrastinate over buying new underwear!:rotfl:

  • lw, I'm not a fan of buying new underwear - am OK with knickers, but even in M&S two bras of the same size can fit so differently. I never try them on in the shop as they have such a good returns policy, but then I am very close to an M&S so the travelling there and back isn't an issue. I have to try bras quite carefully as I have a scar between my boobs from a lumpectomy that is still quite sensitive and has a wee hole in it where they weren't very clever at sewing it up, so I hve to be careful with stickt-out wires.

s/e, I am so with you in getting "stuck" in clothes! Have made the mistake in the past of trying on dresses etc that have side or back zips and have had to ask for help getting out of them before.

But I can't be doing with trying things on in the shop anymore, I just end up getting so hot and bothered.

This whole underwear conversation reminds me of when I finally got to see the pain doctor. LOL he wanted me to take my top off so that he could see the extent of the deformity of my spine (and give it a good ol' poke about) and I think he was a bit taken aback when I just planted my hands on Mr LW's shoulders for him to help me off with the top. :rotfl:But it's just the way we manage at home.:confused::confused::p

Oh, and their knickers are much flimsier than they used to be.
and they stopped doing the midi range that i liked best, i thought i was going quite mad finding that my new knickers were rather poorer quality than i remembered. with the way they rip/loose elastic and need replacing so much more frequently might as well just spend less on cheaper. can you tell i am really peed off by this?

i actually found some comfortable decent non padded non underwired bras in tescos last year.

i also dont do trying on in shops, but im also rubbish at getting round to returning things, which is not so good.

kass sorry to hear that news, good luck with sorting out the tenancy and keeping things as normal as possible. and yay for new baby though :D

lw there is nothing wrong with waffling in my eyes. do carry on :)

Ah, well, unpadded. Now that's the thing these days. The current fashion seems to be for as much padding as possible, but there may be the odd one or two around. Many years ago I got a lovely soft, stretchy bra with no wires and no padding. One of my biggest regrets is not buying several of them as I've never seen one like it since, and never had such a comfy one. Typical.

I obviously can't speak for your local M&S but if I remember correctly, the disabled changing room was placed in such a way that it wasn't necessary to go through the ladies' changing room first, so an opposite sex carer shouldn't be a problem. If I lived nearer to you, I could have gone and checked it out for you.

Oh I hate shopping for clothes as well. It's just so exhausting hoiking things off and then hoiking them on again, then having to swap everything round again. I generally need to rest for at least half an hour after getting dressed when I'm at home - so having tried on a couple of outfits I'm desperately looking for a coffee shop so I can semi-flake out for a while afterwards.

How I miss the days (when energy levels weren't so much of an issue) when I could walk into a shop and pick up a pair of size 10 (or 12) trousers or skirt and know that it would fit when I got it home.

Mind you, having said that - the last time I went looking for clothes I couldn't find anything that I liked that I could afford, and what I could afford looked awful, so it's been rather academic recently.

I was rather lucky in finding that M&S have started doing 'boxer' style undies, which I find are more comfortable than briefs, but the material I so much flimsier than their briefs used to be.

Like you say, if the quality is going to be dropped to the level that you'd get in BHS or primark, then you might as well go there and pay less for the same quality.
