Hi kazza1000, I think these were part of Littlewoods group I think. Have they now changed to another name or something??
Hi, thanks for repling. They stopped trading as Index Extra quite some time ago, have googled them but no info. I don't know who their parent company was or their credit suppliers. Was possibly Littlewoods as you suggested. Will try them.

Hi, just about to start this process & I'm struggling to find any success stories that anyone has with iGroup/GE Money. I have all the paperwork for a loan we took out in August 2001 which is all paid up now so to be honest after reading some of the posts I'm getting confused over if this would have any chance of success. Any pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks :)

    Hi there ;)

How long ago did you settle this loan?

If its over the last few years and you've not much paperwork to go by you could request a Subject Access Request (SAR) (only if you need this), they have 40 days to comply by sending all the details they hold on you on your account.
There is a charge of £10 for this though payable by postal order or cheque payment, if you decide to want to SAR them, post the letter by recorded delivery.
Link here with details and template of SAR letter:

However, just as long as you have the account number there is no harm in trying to reclaim on the reasons you believe you were mis sold with.
This link below is a good help, with template letters, you can use them if you want to or as a guide with your reasons you have and they have 8 weeks in full to respond, again for your proof of posting, post by recorded delivery.

Hope this helps, please ask for help anytime and please keep us posted, good luck.;)

    hi there

Just got a final response from ge capital Etam card they say because It is a long time since I used the card that ist has been wiped from there system so they have no details of my account they say that if I can come up with any evidence that I was miss sold then they will reconsider my case. They have given and address of finance and leasing association to refer my case to if i,m not satisfied . Anyone got any advice i would apprciate it Why not the fos ?
Hi mollymoo, been trying to find out the underwriter for you but with no joy really. Did you write to GE Capital and they have sent their final response or Etam themselves? I really doubt that you would get any information within a SAR request as you say you stopped using the card in 2003 maybe and they really only have to keep records for 6 years.

Your only hope here is that you can find "some" details of this card and account number from maybe old bank statements or something and also that you can find out who underwrote the policies for GE (if not themselves!!). Sorry to not have been of much help but I will continue to try to look for you but wanted to keep you updated that I have not forgotton you. ;)

    Sorry once again.
  • thanks very much for takeing the time with this I wll have another look throught what i have yes it was ge capital the letter head on the reply letter was santander cards thanks again marshellka much appriciated
  • Does anyone know if the FOS timescale has reduced any, I have had a complaint in with them for 11 months now, they claim they have completed everything but just waiting for an adjudicator.

    Hi Hannah
This can take some time as you know already, due to the large number of these complaints.
However if your in any financial hardship let them know, and to request for fast tracking, give your reaons to them as well if this is the case.

Basically what they are saying is they have now received all the info/paperwork they require in order for the adjudicator to investigate, and its now waiting to be passed onto one.
Hope you won't have to wait much longer now, but timescales can vary, hopefully it will only be a matter of weeks once its in the hands of the adjudicator, although it may take longer, depending on how the other party react as well with the decisions.

Good luck, please keep us posted, cheers.;)

My update from the FOS via Hamilton.

Received the letter over the weekend....letter dated 5 Jan 2010.

They are still waiting to pass this on to an Adjudicator, it may be some time yet before its passed over, due to the large volumes of these complaints and they will be in touch by 2 months.

    (The usual letter).

And of course if any changes to let them know.;)

  • Hi, sorry I have no input only more questions at the moment. My dad was told in 2005 he was no longer eligible for ppi on his exsisting loan and that payments would stop as he had turned 65.

Then in 2008 he discovered they had never stopped charging him. He asked for a refund, they tried to deny the mistake had been made even with evidence, now they continue to ask him for payments of the original loan but like a stubburn old goat he is refusing to pay anymore until they give him what they owe (which he would probably use to pay off the loan anyways)

The financial ombudsman have been dealing with this for over 16 months and the bank in question which is Barlceys just are basically ignoring the issue.
If anyone can direct me to a thread, or a link that could help, or just some advice it would be greatly appreciated.
