Hi i'm new to this site and just want to say I have been reading alot of threads on here that have been extremely helpful. I'm in the process of starting my first letters to reclaim missold PPI's from various organisations and I was wondering if somone could answer my query. I am trying to claim my PPI back from Norton Finance which was mis-sold in 2004. I have a copy of the letter Norton sent to me when they originally sent the loan agreement, at the bottom of the letter it states FSA registered, does this mean that I can take my complaint to the FOS? I have been reading a few threads on here that state Norton were not regulated until 2005?0

Hi and welcome.;)
Yes if this is what is says then your entitled to take to the FOS for them to investigate, if Norton who I assume was the ones who also sold and arranged your loan, does not resolve in your favour by 8 weeks.
May I ask if you have actually started the reclaiming with these yet?
And I take it you taken the loan out after October time of 2004, as I believe these were registered by the FSA as from then. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi di3004
Thank you for your response. I have started the reclaiming process by following guidelines from threads here on MSE, and I've had a final response from Norton so I completed the complaints form and sent this to the FOS. Reading threads on here it looks like the FOS have replied back stating that Norton were not regulated until 2005. I just thought it was strange because the letter I have was dated in 2004 and it does state FSA registered? I guess I will just have to wait and see what the FOS come back to me with.0 -

That is strange isn't it?
And I assumed they were registered as from October 2004 as shown on the FSA register search website, you can always point this out to the FOS.
However, a few of us have been in this situation, and due to this we have gone the Insurer/undewriter direction who would have been governed by these regulators, and the FOS have accepted to take these cases on.
Some on here have already been successful this way.
I would though if you can ask the FOS to double check on the dates of FSA regulation via Norton first and if they still cannot deal with it, write to the insurer instead.
If you have any policy details from Norton there should be details of the Insurer, if not then Norton should supply them to you on request, it makes non difference if the loan is still active or settled.
You treat this the same way, write to them and they have 8 weeks, I know its a pain starting all over again, but its another direction to take.
Its possible the insurer will not take any responsibility but you never know, and at least you know the FOS will be able to investigate.;)
Hope this helps. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Thanks di3004, your advice is much appreciated.0 -
Hi, just about to start this process & I'm struggling to find any success stories that anyone has with iGroup/GE Money. I have all the paperwork for a loan we took out in August 2001 which is all paid up now so to be honest after reading some of the posts I'm getting confused over if this would have any chance of success. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks0
