well that's a new one on me !!!! what exactly are they protecting against, presumably the payments he's making to them but surely he's only making nominal payments to them ,so he shouldn't be paying too much in terms of monthly payments - how much are they charging him for this insurance ?

Yes its definately the Management Company, all this only come to light since I said I would try to re claim Bank charges.

A Letter received end oct 2009 says he has paid £229.32 towards the payment protection Insurance He originall owed £3,200, he has paid £56.25 per week since september 2008 and has a letter date October 2009 stating he still owes £2967and that he has paid £12.50 per month for the bank account, ( now times 14) and £457.50 for the Management fees and The £229.32 as noted above for the PPi
  • Thanks for the response finding very confusing as a new user to find the reply and how to respond to you, please dont give up on me

Angrynan - have you checked that your grandson wasn't paying PPi on the actual loans he took out - if these were missold he would be able to claim on them even though he is in a DMP

Thanks no the PPI was included in the Management Company arrangements for them to "Manage his debt" it has cost £229 in 14 months

The Managment company have phoned this evening, apparently there will be no signed copy, they will look for any recorded conversation from what is thought to be September 2008, but they say not hopeful and may take a week or so. If they dont respond or have any evidence that my grandson agreed to this what do I do next

write and tell them you want it repaying, no signed agreement they shouldn't be taking money without it - they could lose their consumer credit licence issued by the Office of Fair Trading, you can't run a Debt Management Company without a licence, tell them you'll take your complaint to the OFT as well as they financial ombudsman service if they don't pay it back

    Hi Triticale

    Yes this seems normal.

    My BOS claim:

Letter sent special delivery 24 Sept, reply received dated 29 Sept

    Briefly
Just an acknowledgemnt of my concerns regarding insurance applied to loan. Keen to deal with as quickly as poss, investigation may take some time, their intention to deal with within the 8wk timescale and provide updates when appropriate.

Letter received Sat 14/11 from BOS Dunfermline accepting claim and refund will be made within the month.:j

    Good luck with your claim.:T

    Brilliant, thank goaliesmum!

By my calculation I should be able to clear my Barclaycard debt AND overdraft AND be paying £90 less per month for the rest of my loan if they pay up. :j

This could be the turning point for all my debt problems.
  • Hi All,
in brief, had PPI case running since February 2009. Went through all Template letters, usual delay tactics from Barclays. Moved on to FOS. Finally had letter end of October saying Barclays agree to settle PPI + 8% etc etc.
E-mailed acceptance forms back to Adjudicator at FOS and he confirmed on phone that they would be passed to Barclays.
Following begining of week rec'd letter from FOS saying if I had not heard from Barclays in 8WEEKS I should get back to FOS.
This bothered me as it appears Barclays can hang on to my money for 2 months and still get charges etc.
Rang Barclays later in week for state of play. Was told forms received and that case was 'in a queue'. Pressed them for timescale and was eventually put through to London office and was told it could be 4 WEEKS before payout as things are done 'in date order'.
Being in financial hardship this seems a hell of a long wait to me for something that is a couple of key presses on a keyboard to accomplish (cash transfer).
Anyone else have info on delay times before you ACTUALLY get any money back?
It seems winning your case is just the start of another long horrendous wait.
Amount won back by the way = £10,500 so you can understand my worry. No letters or calls from Barclays at all. I'd be in the dark if I wasn't still chasing.
Thanks All - And Good Luck!

8 weeks is about standard, I think the FOS actually allow 12 weeks before payment HAS to be made
