I am pretty sure this has been brought up before, but I have done a search on both this site and (this site) through Google, but nothing relevant came up.
On the bank charges reclaim, it was advised that claimants make arrangements with an alternative banking provider as the bank they are making a claim from may insist they close their account if their claim is successful.
Is this the same with PPI claims against credit card companies? Can the issuing bank cancel the card and call in the debt if a claim is successful?
Obviously, the PPI claim could offset some of the debt, but in most cases not all of it?0 -

Hi there
I would think if this did happen it would be unfair, however I expect this happens.
Not sure where you would be best to ask this one, maybe the Office of fair trading perhaps.

I'm sure someone will have some answers on this for you and post up.
I am aware if there is debt outstanding, and arrears they expect you to no longer use the cards, also by returning them to whom they came from, torn up to what I know of, and if successful with a reclaim, they do tend to refund the amount towards the debt, the remaining of what is left - if any should be refunded to you direct.
Hopefully someone with accurate answers will post up shortly, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

From what I have read they can close accounts and sometimes do but often they can justify with other reasons too other than just for complaining. If it happened to someone and they feel it was retaliatory action then you are free to make a complaint to FOS or the FSA. If you have a read hereI am pretty sure this has been brought up before, but I have done a search on both this site and (this site) through Google, but nothing relevant came up.

It gives some good advice. I don't know of anyone on here that has had their bank accounts closed though just for complaining. There are always "other" reasons.0 -
