Thanks for your reply. According to GE money it was in 2005. Not sure that they are taking responsibility or not, but he did instruct me to contact them in writing, so it's a start!0

Wonder if anyone can offer some advice.
We took out a secured personal loan from Paragon Personal Finance in June 2003 for £50k plus £7.5k single premium PPI. We paid this back in full in July 2005 and after debate with Paragon, accepted a refund for the PPI of £683.23. I sent a letter to Paragon last month asking for a copy of the loan agreement and policy T's & C's which they duly sent me. I then sent them a letter asking how they proposed to refund the outstanding balance of PPI premiums. They have replied saying they had nothing to do with the selling of the policy as it was done by a finance broker - Loanmakers, who Paragon claim handed over the completed loan agreement and policy to them after we had signed it, and suggest I contact Loanmakers as it was them who sold us the policy. Paragon claim not to have been party to the selling of the policy and are unable to comment further in this respect.
Is this a smokescreen?
Should I be contacting Loanmakers (I must be honest I can't remember dealing with them)
Any advice would be appreciated.

hi im here again about PPI claim..this time i write about my husbands personal loan with Halifax. together we sent our first letter last semptember and he only received a letter saying that they will look on his complaint and that they will reply to us soon. Today he received another letter saying that "they are awaiting further information before completing the investigation" and also they said that "due to the timescales that have elapsed. I am obliged to advise you of your right to refer their concerns to the FOS".
What do they mean by this?
Do you advice to write a second letter or go straight to the FOS to complain?
your guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks0 -

Hello and welcome.;)
If you have been informed it was Loanmakers that arranged and sold you this loan, then yes you should go to them on this matter, however, I believe they are no longer active and any claims with these should be made to the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS), but if I were you I would at first contact the FOS and ask them on this one and take it from there.
Details of the FSCS here
http://www.fscs.org.uk/contacts/
But contact the FOS first here:

Good luck and please let us know how you get on then we shall take it from there.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi hun
Hope your well.
Now this is entirely up to you hun, if you want to wait that little longer, give yourself your own timescale for example say 14 days and if you hear nothing by then, go to the FOS.
It may be because they are over-run with these complaints and can't get through them as quickly as they would like to but either way we wish you luck and hope you hear something very soon with a good outcome.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Your welcome hun, but it is up to you, and also the post isn't at all great at the moment either, due to some disputes recently, but hope you hear soon anyway. You could always ring them to make sure as well to make sure that a letter have not been sent out yet, just in case.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
