Not sure if you have already been asked this, but did they tell you who the insurance company?
I ask because I had a query over my loan with Endeavour was brokered by Norton Finance and Marshallka kindly gave me the details of Norton Insurance Services who gave me the Insurance I didn't need!!
Hmmm! They could be pulling a fast one
Just a thought but it might be worth asking them about this. But as you have already been told the FOS might be your best bet. They were very helpful and are writing off on my behalf.

I am starting to suspect that this is the case. My CC PPI claim from LLoyds has been at the Obudsman since April 2008. The last letter I recieved from FOS was back in February, saying the next letter I recieved would be from my adjudicator. I did phone a couple of months back, and was apologised to at the extreme delay, but not told much else.
I have a feeling Lloyds are challenging the FOS and dragging their heels for all they're worth.

I there,
so it's the same with you as well then?
makes you think doesn't it?
Well I hope you hear soon then, please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I think the poster is being led to believe that the insurer is responsible when its always the broker (if you used a broker) that is responsible. If Ocean have dissolved then perhaps it will be best to ring and ask the FO's advice on this one as they may take the complaint against the actual insurer. I hope so on this one as the FSCS will not be able to help as this was sold in 2004 and I don't think they look at complaints prior to 2005 even if the companies were GISC members.
I hope I haven't confused them.:o
Its a good job the FOS are sorting mine out, I might have made a pigs ear of it otherwise!!!!;)

I think the Ombudsman would be able to sort this for you now. I would certainly give them a ring and see what they can do to help. You may have to send all correspondence into them so they can sort who is to blame. Someone is and it seems all are passing the buck. Let us know how you get on.

Hello, this is my first post. I’ve only recently started viewing this site but what a wonderful source of knowledge!
Can anybody help me with this particular PPI query?….
I have just cancelled a single premium PPI policy with Nat West after making 49 monthly repayments on an 84 month loan. I now intend to reclaim the full amount I have paid so far for this policy but in the interim I’m not sure what to expect in terms of any refunds I can expect following my cancellation – the advisor I saw at the bank didn’t seem to have much of an idea either.
I happen to know from the pre-contract information that was sent to me at the time of arranging the loan that £60.83 of my monthly loan repayment covers the cost of the PPI policy. I had naively anticipated that my monthly repayments would now be reduced by this amount but having read a lot of the information here I’m now not sure to expect.
I assume that I will hear from the bank shortly but is anyone here able to shed any light on what I can expect?
Many thanks, Joe0 -
I'm not a fan of RBS by any means but when I queried the PPI on my loan they took a while to "investigate" (wasnt that long actually). Then they called and offered to set my account to the point it would be had I never taken out in the first place. This reduced my monthly payment and reduced considerably the total amount of the loan. They offered to put all of it into the loan account or to split it - I took that offer to pay off my credit card at the same time. I slashed my debt burden considerably and in a short(ish) length of time without having to go the Ombudsman route. I was impressed.
The terms I queried the PPI was that a) I have been temping for 5 years and b) I have a thyroid condition which would quite concievably have meant the insurer would never have paid out - citing that as a pre-existing condition and it does affect the whole of the body. So I guess it wouldnt matter what went wrong with me, they'd wriggle out of paying because of it. Since then I took out my own income insurance and my thyroid condition IS an exclusion. These premiums tho' are a tiny fraction of the price I was paying to RBS.
That's just my experience.
