Hi, Just wondering if anyone could give me a little advice. Im looking into reclaiming Ppi on my wifes behalf. The basics are as follows:
She took out a car loan just under 5 years ago(loan has nearly finished) The car itself was from Brindley Chevrolet and the loan was through GE Capital woodchester. At the time she took out the loan she was told that in order to qualify for it she HAD to take out ppi, Also she had to have her father as a loan guarantor...surely this in itself defeats the purpose of ppi?
Also i have been unable to find any paperwork in relation to this ppi in her papers from the car dealership/loan company, despite this she's had an amount(approx £20) coming out of her account each month.
From what i've read i think she's got a fairly good case, Anyone else have an opinion?
Finally, should i be contacting GE Capital(now santander i believe) or the garage itself regarding this?
    Thank you.

I have rang the FOS today and A&L have not replied to the letter that was sent to them by the FOS.

I have been told that they have 21 days to reply which is up on Friday.

My case will then be put in a pile for someone to look at it

    Hi and welcome.;)

You write to the ones who actually discussed, arranged and sold the finance, by giving the reasons as you have stated in your post.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, keep at them until they either resolve in your favour or until they issue the final decision which if eligible should include the details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of your complaint.

I think she has a good case, they should not have made out she could have the loan if taken out the PPI.
You do not need to write the amount on the reclaiming letter at this point.

On the above link you will find useful reclaiming info with templates, a checklist or reasons if there is anymore to add then write them in as well, post all letters by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.

We wish you luck, keep at them and please keep us posted.;)

  • OK so I'm TOTALLy new to this forum lark- please bear with me if I'm in the wrong place etc

I took an Egg Card out in Nov 1999 (I assume I applied online) which I still have and am still paying for

I have contacted Egg who have told me the Card Protection was taken out on application.

I have recently been made redundant and so may benefit from the insurance ironically...

What would people advise I do? The debt on the Egg Card is shamefully high - £13,500. The insurance people (St Andrew's) have indicated that they would pay 10% of the balance each month I'm redundant.

You see my dilemma: Do I proceed with mis-sold PPI claim, or do I use the insurance I have inadvertently been paying a fortune for? Does anyone know of success in an online application for an Egg card from so long ago? I genuinely didn't know I was paying it (now £100 per month!), but is that just me being a dunce?

I'm not planning on being redundant for long, but in the current climate who knows?

Thanks in anticipation of any advice...
