It's been a while, but the FOS have upheld my complaint to EGG and I obviously accepted their response. They sent a final letter last week stating that Egg have 4 weeks to contact me regarding the payment. All the mathematical bobbins in the letter is very confusing, can anyone help me when/if I get their calculations?
Any ideas how long it will be to actually get some money?
Thanks

Hi there,
Yes by all means please post up, our Marshallka is very good with calculations and I'm sure when she has 5 mins, she will be happy to take a look at them for you.
Meanwhile, our Maxdp posted a thread in how the FOS calculates refunds, may be worth you checking on there as well to give you some idea.;)

I have had a look and I'm usually quite good with maths, but am completely flummoxed!
Here goes:
Jan 2005 took out loan for £17,488 over 7 years, they did a single premium PPI policy of £6,187.95 with interest payable. The FOS calculated it to be approximately £7,776.20.
I settled the loan on 12 June 2008 and recieved a partial rebate for the PPI of £1,639.72. The settlement figure was £15,445.88.
Any ideas? If you need more info let me know.

Hi hun,
I'm sure Marshallka will be along soon, sorry I am hopeless with workings out.....:o, I also in the past posted mine on here where marshallka worked mine out for me.
What I do know in regards of the PPI, what you paid off within the ppi, they reduce your settlement by a rebate, you should end up with the PPI you have paid into the settlement and the interest on top of that again, plus in most cases the 8% interest on top of what a court would also award.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, i'm not so much a newbie but a lurker that reads loads on here lol....thanks to this forum i begun reclaiming my bank charges in 2007 and have now started the ball rolling again with the hardship thing...anyhoo its been niggling at me a long time that we have had loans in the past from different companies, and we might be able to claim this back too...
Basically what i am wondering is, somewhere around 2003-2004 (not sure exactly) we had a loan from black horse, dont know if we had ppi on it but i guess its very likely....the loan fell into arrears and we eventually re-mortgaged and paid it off in full, the thing is i no longer have any details of the account we had with them so therefore have no idea where to start with this, any help would be greatly appreciated.....
ps.suppose you could say i am in the same predicament with yes car credit too
and we currently are with welcome finance for our car and not sure if we are paying ppi on that0 -

Hello and welcome anyway.;)
I would write to them and request for a true copy of your agreement (CCA). Enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, and tell them you look forward to receiving your CCA by 12 days, and post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.
If you no account number to write down from any old paperwork to request your CCA, give them as many details as possible to make it easier for them to track this down, by giving your date of birth, any different surname at the time you taken this out and address etc.
The PPI details should be shown on the agreement.
Another way is to request a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they have 40 days to comply, but there is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this.

when you receive your CCA, please post up for help when required and also check the reclaiming of PPI link here as well.

Good luck.;)

Afternoon all,
Can anyone advise what I can do as Barclays keep telling me it'll be upto 7 months before they deal with my complaint?
Can I report then to the OFT for breaching the guidelines for the time taken to look into complaints?

nem,
Hi Nembot, hope your well.;)
Seven months...... blimey that don't sound right!
It may be a good idea to contact the FOS here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html
I would give the FOS a ring on the above link to be honest, something not right about 7 months, good luck and please let us know what they say, cheers.;)

nem,
If however you complained and it was over 6 months ago then this usually means you cannot take your complaint to the Ombudsman service but this is only if you did complain and it was over 6 months ago as Barclays should have written to you and given you this option anyway.0 -
