Wonder if they are like "click finance" etc, found this on companies house search but again could be a different broker.

    Name & Registered Office:
    OCEAN FINANCE LIMITED
    PACIFIC HOUSE

Country of Origin: United KingdomMaybe check any paperwork you have Jo and Tim, if the Company number matches then it confirms they are still active, although there is a dissolved business as well here:

There are a few in this thread who have claims against them and I think FOS has halted them for now so it was only recent they dissolved. I think the OP has been told this about them being in liquidation from FP themselves. It is worth perhaps asking the FOS what to do next like I have said as the FSCS would not be able to help (I don't think) as the loan was taken in 2004 but I am sure FOS will advise correctly and perhaps take the complaint against the insurer or FP themselves perhaps just like they are doing with BH. I hope so anyway.

And BTW DI, I think this will be exactly like Click with you if this firm is dissolved now.

Oh yes of course silly me lol....missed that part, how I don't know.....:o.

    Jo and Tim

As Marshallka says, contact The Financial compensation Scheme (FSCS) to ask if Ocean Finance are on their list, if so they should arrange to send you a form to complete through the post, sometimes they go through some details with you on the phone then tell you to email them to arrange for a form, but check with them first on this, good luck.

Don't think the FSCS can help on loan prior to 2005 so Pinknico informed me. It was taken out in 2004 so can anyone else confirm this?

    Cheers Marshallka.;)
Yes with it being a 2004 year as well does not help in regards of the FSCS, that is always something that I forget about as well.

It is so annoying when they have so may businesses running more or less under the same umbrella.

Do you think perhaps Jo and Tim should also contact the OFT on this, I know they cannot do a lot, as I have not heard a thing on mine at all in regards of Click?

Who told you Ocean was no longer trading? Also as you have contacted them have they sent a reply in writing to state they will not take the complaint on? What is the business number you have for the Ocean you dealt with as this will clear up a lot of confusion as Ocean have so many trading/non trading companies we are all confused....

If Ocean are still trading and they did sell the policy then it is up to them to look into the complaint and you are right there.

Hubby's update so far on the earlier credit card case that was moved on to the ombudsman because there was no response from Lloyds when this was with the adjudicator, this one have been with them since last June 2008. An email update here that he received today:

    Dear Mr ,

Thank you for your email, I do apologise for the delay in responding - I was contacting colleagues to try to ascertain the situation and any further information. Your case is currently with the Ombudsman, which I believe you may already be aware.

The files are on the same Ombudsman's desk and there is a wider issue with the firm which she is currently looking into - although at this stage I cannot provide you with any further information. So I can assure you that the files are being worked on by the Ombudsman, but there may be some further delay before the matter is concluded.

    Yours sincerely

    Adjudicator

    Telephone: 020 7964 0292
    Fax: 020 7964 0293
    ...................................................................................................
Not sure what is meant about "wider issue with the firm" to be honest, time will tell I suppose.

I am starting to suspect that this is the case. My CC PPI claim from LLoyds has been at the Obudsman since April 2008. The last letter I recieved from FOS was back in February, saying the next letter I recieved would be from my adjudicator. I did phone a couple of months back, and was apologised to at the extreme delay, but not told much else.

I have a feeling Lloyds are challenging the FOS and dragging their heels for all they're worth.
