PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

hi there, im getting cheesed off with Northern Rock. Im trying to claim back PPI on unsecured loans I had with them in the past, got all my paperwork today including the orginal loan agreements and there is nothing anywhere that states how much PPI i had to pay. What do I do now?? Phone them??
I also noticed on the statements that there was loads of charges on the mortgage account so hoping i can claim them back.

As regards the loan one it would state the PPI amount usually on the agreement. Does it have PPI on there at all? You do not need to actually know the amount of the reclaim to make a complaint.0 -
hello there - thanks for such a great site! This is my first post. Advice Please! My daughter took out a loan with Barclays in 2004. At the time she was on benefits but we now find to our surprise that it is a protected loan. In 2005 she asked for more money - again PPI was added. She is a casual worker now - finding it difficult to work around her young daughter. I just feel she should not have been offered PPI but I do not know how to proceed. She must have answered certain questions regarding her background as her replies are listed on PPI documents but she now says she didn't realise the questions refered to PPI. What can we do now? I really do believe she has been ripped off and that she was vunerable.0

Hello and welcome.;)
It does seem that they taken advantage, so I would try to reclaim on this.
For whatever reasons, they have 8 weeks to resolve your daughters complaint, best to put it into writing and keep copies in case you have to refer to them at a later date etc.
Keep at them until they resolve in your daughters favour, or until they issue the final response, which should also enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to these if your not happy with the outcome of the complaint, the FOS also investigates free.
For more information with a mis selling checklist of reasons, templates and useful info check here:

You do not need to write the figures at this point but use the templates as shown in the link if you want to, or as a guide, and best to post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.
Good luck with this and keep at them, please post up for further help if required.

Thank you so much. But I'm still a little hazy on this! I don't now what reasons to give for the misselling. I could say unemployment cover was missold initially and misunderstanding regarding questions asked by Barclays. Am a little worried that Barclays might claim they looked into my daughter's circumstances and in their view the PPI was sold to cover her needs???0 -

However where I really need help is with HFC (groan!!) they settled one claim as had lost the paperwork. Despite my sending them this paperwork for another claim I have had the "go away" letter. Went to FLA- no luck. I reckon that the amount owing is somewhere around £4500. How can I claim against them whilst living, and loving, Scotland.
Loathe to use a claims company as sure I can do it if pointed in the right direction. Balance settled in 2007 but taken out (stupidly) in 1997. Amount loaned approx £6K but paid back something like £17K in interest charges and the way it was worked out. Despite ticking that had pre-existing conditions told to take anyway- we all know the rest by now eh!!
Help/ideas/contacts gratefully received. Thanks
You need to establish which law your contract is written under, this is usually scottish law, or the law of england and Wales. If it is under the law of england and wales you will need to raise your claim in a small claims court or county court in england, it will probably be best to subscribe to the one where your lender resides.
You are also going to have to proove that you weren't aware of the mis-selling prior to September 2006, otherwise you will be statue barred.I tell ambulance chasers where to go for a living, but am willing to help genuine claimants0 -

Just because your daughter was on benefits does not mean the policy was mis-sold. If your daughter was working less than 16 hours per week, then the policy should not have been sold to her as for most PPI policies this is the minimum number of hours you have to work to make a claim.
Again if she is working casual hours now which equate to less than 16 hours a week, she will be very unlikely to be able to claim against the policy, and therefore it should not have been sold to herI tell ambulance chasers where to go for a living, but am willing to help genuine claimants0
