And Im a PA for a large company ....I'm also very quick to tell everybody when a business (thats how to spell it) actually goes the extra yard. They deserve the credit, the customers, the profit, the success! As for the other lot.... Isnt it true that one of the things that really galls the bloke/lass in the street, is that if we make a mess, we get sacked. This lot just go on and on and on and they get paid bonuses as WELL!

Hi laalaa Thanks for the correct spelling but at 41 now I don't think I'll ever get it. I used to have an English teacher who said everyone had 10 words they couldn't spell & I think I only have 7 so I'm doing quite well lol. I agree with everything you say it's always the ' little people' held accountable for mistakes & the managers get off scot (I am a scot but not one of these types) free, I love the support on here. It's like having friends you don't need to go for lunch with if you have no money:o

Hi there just an update especially for all those who are dealing with Egg. Long story short, FOS found in my favour, Egg totally ignored them (this is after Egg had already paid out for on a different PPi policy). The case went before the Ombudsman himself to decide and he decided in my favour and I was told that by law they now had to respond. They didn't. FOS sent me an agreement form to sign and send back, this was at the end of June. I was told that Egg had 4 weeks to respond. After 4 weeks I contacted Fos who said that in all they give Egg 90 days in all to make payment. Hang on, up until the 1st Fos decision it had taken approx 18months. Egg ignore FOS and the big boss makes a decision and gives them another 3 months to make payment. Can anyone explain how that is fair or reasonable to the consumer? It just seems to me that for what ever reason FOS are pandering to the money industry. If it has been found that they have misold then tell them to pay up immediately or face penalties. init? Rant over.

    Totally agree.

Advice please!! I know I'm not on the correct board with this one but I can't seem to find where else to put it!! I'm so angry I'm probably blind with rage!

Anyway, I had a credit card with Capital One and, trying to cut a long story very short, I'm now dealing with CapQuest in order to repay the outstanding balance which seems to be fluctuating with every letter!

Firstly, I received a letter dated 20th June giving an outstanding balance of £2081.96. The letter stated 'If you contact us before 3rd July 2009 I can offer you a settlement figure on your outstanding balance. That means you only have to pay £1061.80 to clear this account with us and, if required, you can pay this over a 3 months period.' Needless to say I opted for this option, making one payment of £20 and 2 payments of £350 on 25th June and 31st July, thereby leaving me, to my calculations, an outstanding balance of £341.80.

I received a further letter from CapQuest dated 3rd July (which for some reason did not reach me until the end of July!) giving me an Agreed Settlement Figure of £883.30 to be paid in 3 instalments, the first payment to be received in their office by 1st August. At this point the outstanding balance was given as £1731.96.

I then received a letter dated 3rd August from H L Legal Solicitors stating: 'TAKE NOTICE that if you fail to repay the arrears on the arrangements you have made of £0.00 (yes, really!) by 11th August 2009 Court proceedings may be issued against you for £1731.96 plus further costs that will be added.' I wrote to the person who had sent the original letter enclosing copies of all their correspondence on 7th August. No reply has been received from this person. However, I received a letter this week dated 21st August 2009 requesting that I contact their office as a matter of urgency. The balance on this letter was given as £1381.96! Upon contacting the office I was told that I owed this amount. When I queried this and explained the payments already made the rude little man on the phone stated that because I had not kept to the agreement and no payment had been received in July the settlement figures had been withdrawn. He informed me that if I made a payment of £750 immediately the matter could be settled. I told him that I couldn't make a payment of that amount and, at that point, I made an arrangement to pay £50 by the end of this month (I was prepared to pay the £341.80 which I believed was the outstanding balance, as agreed originally but wanted to get off the phone to check the correspondence I have before making a commitment to pay anything more).

The original letter offering the settlement figure of £1061.80 gave me 3 months if I contacted them before 3rd July, which I did, making payments of £720.00 within a 2 month period. I have written to the originator of that letter again, copied to the FOS (I have sent in a formal complaint, although think I may be a bit premature with it!) outlining all of the above and stating that as far as I am concerned I am within the time limit to repay the balance of £1061.80 and requesting his response, in writing. (I always like to have written confirmation when dealing with these people for obvious reasons!!!)

I'm so angry at the moment that I can't get my thoughts in order and as there are some fantastic people on this site who have been really helpful and supportive while I've been waiting for a PPI settlement from Loans.co.uk - they now have one week left to respond with their offer - the case was with the FOS for 18 months!!! - I thought I'd give it a go.

As I said, I know this isn't the correct board but any advice would be appreciated and being pointed in the right direction as to where to post it would also be useful!! I'm sorry for the long, rambling post!!!!

    Thanks in advance.

Hello Ellbee, if I have read your post correctly it sounds like you have done evrything right.

You have written to the originator of the letter outlining your complaint and waiting for a response.
You have also contacted the FOS, doesnt matter if its to soon, they should let you know what they can do and when.

Have you a record of payments made to this company and proof of dates ?

Hope more people will be along to help.

    Hi Pinknico,

Thanks for your reply. I have proof of payments - I wrote requesting these as they hadn't even acknowledged receipt of them! I've also got the dates on my bank statements. I always prefer to get everything down in writing, mainly because I can get my thoughts down on paper better than I can express them verbally and its all there in black an white if there's any dispute!! I always write things down when I have to speak to anyone on the phone too (I have the advantage of being able to write shorthand so can get pretty much most of the conversation down!)

Once I've got the payment from my PPI in the bank I intend getting all these people paid off and get them off my back!! What's the betting they'll be harrassing me to get me to take out another card though?!!!!

Thanks again for your prompt reply!

  • Hi- new to posting but I have had successes with recaliming PPI- so please point me in the right direction! I am stuck with GE and taking them to court via local Sheriff's court. So will let you know about that one.

However where I really need help is with HFC (groan!!) they settled one claim as had lost the paperwork. Despite my sending them this paperwork for another claim I have had the "go away" letter. Went to FLA- no luck. I reckon that the amount owing is somewhere around £4500. How can I claim against them whilst living, and loving, Scotland.

Loathe to use a claims company as sure I can do it if pointed in the right direction. Balance settled in 2007 but taken out (stupidly) in 1997. Amount loaned approx £6K but paid back something like £17K in interest charges and the way it was worked out. Despite ticking that had pre-existing conditions told to take anyway- we all know the rest by now eh!!

    Help/ideas/contacts gratefully received. Thanks

hi there, im getting cheesed off with Northern Rock. Im trying to claim back PPI on unsecured loans I had with them in the past, got all my paperwork today including the orginal loan agreements and there is nothing anywhere that states how much PPI i had to pay. What do I do now?? Phone them??

I also noticed on the statements that there was loads of charges on the mortgage account so hoping i can claim them back.
