PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi there just an update especially for all those who are dealing with Egg. Long story short, FOS found in my favour, Egg totally ignored them (this is after Egg had already paid out for on a different PPi policy). The case went before the Ombudsman himself to decide and he decided in my favour and I was told that by law they now had to respond. They didn't. FOS sent me an agreement form to sign and send back, this was at the end of June. I was told that Egg had 4 weeks to respond. After 4 weeks I contacted Fos who said that in all they give Egg 90 days in all to make payment. Hang on, up until the 1st Fos decision it had taken approx 18months. Egg ignore FOS and the big boss makes a decision and gives them another 3 months to make payment. Can anyone explain how that is fair or reasonable to the consumer? It just seems to me that for what ever reason FOS are pandering to the money industry. If it has been found that they have misold then tell them to pay up immediately or face penalties. init? Rant over.0

Hi
I wrote last week to let you know that HFC Beneficial settled my PPI- £9200.
The basis of my complaint and the one that I have used for the other claims is thatt as civil servant I did not need the PPI I told them that I had 6 months full sick pay, a very good redundancy plan and death benefit,I pointed out that I had not been made aware of the exclusions e.g back related probs, stress or pregnancy related illness, nor was I told that the cover would only cover 1 years interest.
I next approached MBNA with whom I have had a few more probs their reply arrived after eight weeks (two weeks ago)stating that as I had an exsiting medical complaint it I was covered- this was not on the letter as a reason for claiming, I chased it up, they advised that a complaints rep would call back. It took two days they finally phoned and offered me £1142.00.
The PPI amount was around £700.. they advised that the offer also included interest.
Amount reclaimd total = £10342,00 aprox,
I have just written to FirstPlus for a settlement so will let you know how I get on.
Sooooooooo Happppppppppy
Thanks again team and especially Martin

I am a complete forum virgin(I won't ask you to be kind because I have spent my last 30 internet hours reading your posts and know you are). With courage from your posts I found the confidence to send a recorded delivery letter last week to reclain PPI. I wont go into much more tonight because I had a few glasses of 'the red' to bring down my blood pressure due to an ongoing dispute with the people who were meant to be be putting in a new bathroom for me, but felt guilty for just reading & not sharing so have registered to post & share as I know how helpfull reading other peoples experiences are0

Martin Lewis is such a well-known champion for the little people, the consumer. If enough of us on his forum have the same experience of the FOS (cow-towing to financial institutions instead of getting our money BACK from these huge corporations) then maybe we should get some sort of barrage of letters, perhaps one format sent to the FSA, consumer rights people, the BBC, the government from every one of us - THEN something might be done.
It so galls me that we humans have to pay the rent, feed the kids, get to work (if we're lucky enough to have a job) but these companies are allowed to sit on ill-gotten gains and have all the time in the world to pay because god forbid their profits should suffer! But we have to forego the dentist visit, breakfast, lose our homes even - lives at worst destroyed and at best we might lose sleep with worry.
Thank god for Martin Lewis bringing us all together in the first place by publicising this because personally, I could have gone on paying through the nose for something tacked on that would never pay out when I needed it. We're better off than we would have been. Now we need to take this all the way. If I dont pay the bills, Im not given 2 years to pay!
