PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

They have sent me a copy of the agreement which I have just been looking through. When i took out the loan they stated that I had to take out the PPI in order to obtain the loan. Even though I had protection through my employers at the time. Having looked at my agreement again the £610.08 (not 610.10 as previously stated is for PPI and Personal Accident Insurance which I didn't know was even on there (again, had this through work)!! PPI was £280, interest charge was £169.52, Personal Accident was £100 plus interest £60.56. Can I reclaim this separately or is it part of it - I'm now very confused!
If you settled early you most probably would have had a rebate of the interest charged on the PPI and a PPI rebate also. This would not be so obvious but if the agreement says £610.08 PPI this does not mean that you have actually paid all of it??
Did you settle early? It would help if you have now paid it off and did settle early if they let you have a breakdown of the settlement.
Basically if it were me I would write back and state you will not settle for anything less than being put back into the position as if you never had the PPI and 8% statutory interest on top.0 -

Thanks marshallka, I paid it off about two months early but got no rebate, my settlement figure was that of the full timeframe which I expected as it was only a couple of months. Should I be including this Personal Accident Insurance as well which is has completely baffled me!0 -

Should I just give up now or refer it to the relevant folk?
I am so not amused and would like to hit them upside the head with a wet kipper!!!!!
All help welcomed.
Thanks guys

Hi Marianne,
As Pinknico says now go to the FOS.
This is the final response, is it not?
You can download and print a complaints form from the FOS website, or ring to arrange they send you this through the post.
Remember to enclose copies of correspondence and evidence as well if you can to support your complaint, good luck.

Just posted my second letter to Capital One today. I told them it was very strange for their staff to offer and sell PPI when they are not allowed to recommend or advice if the policies are suitable for the customers (this is what the letter i have received says). Am i stupid and don't understand it or they say yes we sell policies although we can't do it. Because this is the impretion i got from this letter. I told them this a proof of miss selling and the FOS will rule out in my favour so hope this helps.
Well done dec22, hope they are reasonable with me to.0 -

Egg have now told me I was mis informed when they said 7 to 10 days, they have no idea when they will make calculations and send cheque. Not Happy.
Oh well at least their calculator has been fixed!
Strange thing has happened on our accounts page for our Egg card, now details of our two old loans which we are claiming the PPi back are displayed with no amounts included maybe they are using the calculator to work out the amounts!0 -

Thanks so much you are a star!! I have sent them my response and will now keep my fingers and toes crossed!!0 -
Hi again folks
I posted last week about progress on my claim - RBS had been in touch to ask for more information just as the 8 weeks was about to run out. I sent the information off to them on Thursday or Friday and was surprised to get their response this morning!
The letter basically pointed out that I had no case etc etc, which I was expecting; what I wasn't expecting was a 'goodwill gesture' of £750. So, do I take the safe money now OR press on with the next stage? I think i'm leaning towards the latter at the moment but wondered what you guys would make of it
I saw this thread on your website and wanted to ask for a clarification. I sent the first letter to NatWest/RBS asking for my PPI back. I received very long relpy explaining it was not their fault but all mine with the same £750 pay off/goodwill gesture with no liability for them etc. At the end of the letter they suggest that if i am not happy i should write to the financial ombudsmen!
I am now not certain if i should send the suggested second letter to the Bank or just go straight to the Ombudsmen? Please advise.
PS. thank you for this web site0 -
