Can anyone tell me if it's worthwhile doing a ppi claim against a loan from your "loyal" bank. I mean I've been with TSB for 20+ years, but I was forced to get PPI on a loan. If I claim, will they want rid of me and will I need to find another bank. Has anyone does this. Other than the PPI mis-sell, they have treated me fine and I would prefer to stay with them.

Meanwhile, after my success with Egg, I'm now chasing Alliance & Leicester for a car loan I took out which also had the nasty ppi!

    Hi Gary

You will be fine, I have successfully reclaimed on PPI against Lloyds TSB (PPI) and still with them now and been with them for well over 18 years as joint and also years before that on my own, so not to worry.
Your only reclaiming if mis sold what is rightfully yours and this should not give you any problems, however you write to the main insurance dept and not the branch itself to complain.

    Lloyds PPI
    Customer Care
    Lloyds TSB Insurance
    Tredegar Park
    Newport
    South Wales
    NP10 8SB
    Tel 0845 3005599
    Fax 01633 468835

If you need any help in regards of reclaiming, please ask and also check this out here as well:

I take it though going by your EGG success that you know what to do, good one and well done on your success, hope you win on the others as well.;)

di3004 - many thanks for the info. it's reassuring to know that you're still banking with them despite the ppi. I know I definitely have a very good case against them mis-selling.

I just started reclaiming about 3 weeks ago, and Egg sent me cheques for just under £3,000 yesterday. I had shreaded all my info with A&L and thought it ended in 2003 so thought I didn't stand a chance, but I've just done an online statement search on TSB and found my A&L loan was still going in 2006, so a letting being sent to them tomorrow :)

Your welcome gary, you will be fine.;)

If you do require more information on your loans etc, you can actually request a Subject Access Request (SAR) if you've not done so already.

They have 40 days to comply and send everything possible as requested on the SAR, but there is a cost of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this request, maybe worth it though.;)

    Link here to SAR template:

Hope this helps and good luck.

  • Hi, I have had PPI on a number of credit cards and loans over the years (I don't have it now - wasn't worth it), what is the criteria for claiming it back. It probably amounts to hundreds of pounds!
    Thanks
    B.
Proud to be dealing with my debts ;)

    Hi there, ;)

There are many reasons, for more information check here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Check the above link out and you will also come across mis selling reasons, if any of them occur to you then give it a go.

You will also find reclaiming templates, you can use them if you want to, or as a guide and obviously write the reasons that occur to you.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond.
Keep at them until they resolve your complaint, or until they issue you with the final decision, they should also enclose details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), you can take your complaint to them if your not happy with the outcome.
(You do not need to write the figures on the letter at this point).

Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting.

Do you still have the agreements/paperwork?

If not, just for the agreements, you can write to them, enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, ask if they could send you the true copy of your CCA (agreement) and that you expect to receive it by 12 days of your date on your letter, again recorded delivery posting is best.

For even more information, you could request a Subject access request (SAR), where they have 40 days to comply, and send everything possible as requested on the SAR, however the cost of this is £10 postal order or cheque payment.
For more details and a template letter on a SAR here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

Good luck, please ask for further help if required.;)

  • I have PPI which commenced in 1998 on a C & G Mortgage taken out through LloydsTSB which I was told was necessary for me to obtain the Mortgage. In 2004 I was experiencing serious financial difficulties and was regularly becoming overdrawn on my Bank account. I went in to the Bank at their request for their "help in sorting out my problems". As I was nearing retirement age (female and 60 in November 2005) I was advised my best course of action was to take out another amount against my property which they would sort out for me. They also arranged for my Mortgage to be covered by Scottish Widows Insurance.
I have just asked for and received a copy of the PPI which I took out in 1998 (as I do not seem able to find the original as it is not with any of my Mortgage papers) and it appears that on retirement from work the cover stops. They are still taking the premium of £25 each month. What advice can anybody give as to my best course of action.. Will I be entitled to my premium payments back from the date I retired? Or shall I claim for a mis sold Policy as I was told it was necessary for me to take this out? Apologies if this is long winded but I'm not too good at financial things. Thanks it anticipation.

Guys I wish I could help but I'm as much in the dark as everybody else I'm afraid....

My big gripe was the amount of time it was taking the FSCS to declare Picture in default as I new that this was only the 1st step! I hate to say it but now that they are finally in default I think we will all need to let the system run it's course.

The lack of information from Delliotes annd the FSCS is largely down to the fact that those we speak to honestly don't know and will usually say anything to get us off the phone, whilst those that do know what's going on won't say for fear of saying some thing that could set a precendent.

I don't think there is any conspircy just a system that is creaking under the pressure, however the post about Target turning up at the doorstep does worry me as this would appear to be the actions of a company on the brink.

Bottom line......There's not a whole hell of a lot we can do to speed things up. It sucks I know, but we are all slaves to the system in end. Remember, the harder you !!!! into the wind the more of comes back and hits you in the face and there's plenty out there looking to !!!! on you already so why help them!

Too true... it's a waiting game now... I just wish it wasn't getting to me as much as it is... been fine for the past 2 years of dealing with this but now it's close to a conclusion it's keeping me up at night!!
