I was on the fscs site the other day and had a look at previous firms that had been declared in default. I think it was Kauplinger or something like that. I was looking at the updates they give. I think it did take about 6 months for everybody to be paid. However in one part it did say almost everybody had been paid and they still had about 79 to go. It said they would be completed within the week. Looking at this it is possible they can do it.Not sure how many claimants there were but will check back for more info.

Gumbi does talk sense though doesn't she. She is being realistic about it all and as she says, at least they have been declared in default as it could have been a lot more difficult for us dealing with them direct.

Think i will amke a cuppa and have a good Scream:mad:

Thats good to know that 79 complaints can be dealt with in a week, even if that is just calculating and drawing up cheques.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd give you a quick update (no, no news yet, that would be amazing esp. with a postal strike today!). Just that I have first decided to go for Capital One before Natwest. The GREAT news is that I applied for a balance transfer cc today and got it (it always surprises me, I used to have bad credit thankfully no more) so all the Capital One balance will transferred onto this because the Cap One rate was MASSIVE and now I will be paying off at 0% for 15 months!!!!!!!!!!!!! So since it was my bank who gave me the new card I thought I'd give them a break, for now ...

I also think I read someone on here say they had claimed on some cards from back in the 90's - so it occurred to me I had two store cards back then and I'm sure there was PPI involved - think I might go for those too as it was GE Capital Bank (fairly notorious, right?). Nothing to lose but the cost of some stamps!!

Will keep you posted, and come back if I have any questions as you are all so nice and helpful!!

I have just checked the fscs again and the company was Heritable Bank & Kaulthing.

They were declared in Default on the 8th October 08 and the first payments were made on 24th October.(17 days - I wish) There was apparently 180,000 customers. Not sure if they were able to act so quickly because this was a bank and they had the info to hand.

Even so that is quick, they must have been gathering information before hand surely. The fscs would have needed the financial details of each customer. and verified stuff.

Saying that though the big thing with ours is not just calculating what we are owed but seeing if we actually have a claim.

I think as they are single premium and they are now banned, we must have a claim for that reason alone, apart from any of the other criteria for mis-sell that we could possibly use.

I think they would know if we had a valid claim or not before passing it to deloitte. Don't think it would have been passed on if we didn't;)
