Just to update you guys on my claim against Alliance & Leicester for misselling me PPI on a 5.5k loan I took out:

I wrote to them using the template from this website in July and less than a week later the "Head of Complaints Operations" wrote to me saying that they would investigate my complaint. So I thought "oh yeah, here we go with a long wait before they tell me to shove off and I have to use template 2 and 3". So I settled in for a long wait ... and then they wrote to me just last week saying that they have not been able to establish whether I was provided with enough information to enable me to make in informed decision when the policy was taken out and they offered me over £1,700 as settlement! This also includes the 8% interest that I asked for using the template from this website. :D

So I have accepted the offer and am waiting for the cheque to arrive! :T

So a huge thank you to everyone on the forum that helped - particularly di3004 :A I never thought for a moment that inside 6 weeks, it's been sorted!

    Cheers,

    Rusty

What a day! As some of you are aware my OH has been off work for a few months now and during this time we have missed a couple of repayments to Picture. Despite us missing the two repayments we have not received any letters from Picture which we were surprised about !
This morning a representative from Target loans turned up unanounced on our doorstep asking what we intended to do about the missed repayments!! WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED that this was going to happen!!
My OH did not let him into the house and informed him that he was off work due to an operation and could not afford to make the full repayments on the loan whilst being off work. He also informed the rep that the PPI company had refused to pay up and the case had been refered to the FSCS and we were still awaiting a reply.
We have offered to make the normal monthly repayments plus an extra £25 starting from September when OH should be back at work. The rep stated he would have to take our offer back to the company to be assessed.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What is the likelyhood of our offer of repayment being accepted. I am now begining to worry. Any help please!!

So sorry to hear of this beaniebabe.

For a start they should not have turned up just like that, without you knowing about this, how naughty of them.
I would contact the Office of Fair Trading hun, this just isn't on at all, here:
    http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/legal/competition-act-1998/complaints

Hope your hubby is successful very soon with new employment as well, my hubby still waiting as well unfortunately, jobs are very scarce at the moment, with too many fighting for the same ones that are available.

I would report them to the ICO hun, what they done is wrong and they should have realistically let you know beforehand.
    Good luck. XXXXX

Yes, contact them, it is worth a go. Without worrying you, I do think you need to speak to someone regarding this.

Have you called Target Loans and discussed the visit with them.

They will probably contact you anyway to discuss the report the rep has made.

Good luck and keep us posted

    xx

    Just to update you.
I have been on the phone to picture and they were aware that a rep from Target visited me today. ( They are still answering the phone stating they are picture) I informed them that I had received no correspondance in respect of the visit and they went very quiet.
I discussed my arears and they were happy to accept the extra £25 a month!! starting September without a problem. They even said I only needed to make a token payment this month. I found this rather strange
I then informed them about the whole PPI thing and stated I was aware the company were now in default and was awaiting news on the PPI dispute which I expected to be upheld as the insurance company had refused to pay us out (amongst other things).
I am sure they will slap loads of interest on my account but hopefully we will hear something soon from FSCS which will help get us straight. At least it gives us a bit of breathing space. x

hi beaniebabe, i find it odd that he did not leave his contact datails, that is very strange, i would do what busbyh says go to cab, or maybe fos could help? it wouldnt do any harm to give them a ring and they may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help, this firm are not treating you fairly i think it is disgusting. i am sure you will get lots more good advice when others come on later, please dont worry as they cant force you to do anything you dont have to

    Thanks Amersall
I have a good idea on my rights but OH is not as clued up! Don't worry they will not get away with anything and I will fight them to the end if need be:mad:
Not leaving a name and contact number is totally out of order.
I have since called them and it becomes more confusing as they were so happy to accept the smallest of repayments  It makes me wonder sometimes if there is much they can do about the situation themselves since they have gone belly up!!!
    Thanks for your support. xx
