    to Amersall,

Yes, they are offering me back only the PPI payments I made and have not even mentioned the loan and knocking the proportion of PPI off that.

They said "Send in your bank statements for 2000 and 2001 and we will try and calculate the PPI paid" (or words to that effect).

I'd like the PPI knocked off the loan too!

    Liz
hi liz, i think they are trying to pull a fast one, send them the statements they request, if you have them, and. see what they come back with and if you dont think they have taken all ppi off the loan and recalculated the loan at the same interest and time scale, go to fos , you go get em, thats your money you were duped out of and you want it back, good luck and keep us posted

I have just experienced my first encounter with a Troll on another thread and up until then I had no idea what they were so I would thought I would post up to educate / warn those that also dont have a clue.

    Notice to newcomers re trolls.
    Hi Everyone,

Not sure if we have this thread over here but this thread is bumped up regulary on other board so that newcomers new & old are aware of the possibility of `troll` issues.

They `bump` it along regularly to keep it in peoples minds. Perhaps it would work over here?

    Notice to newcomers re trolls.
    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D
  • hi good day to you all!!the other week i started sending letters following the templates here. Marks and spencer has responded to my request to send me statements for the last 3 yrs. As i looked through i never missed payments so far. What will i do next? Can i claim anything from the interest incurred to my account?please guide me through. Thanks.
And another thing yesterday i call up HSBC to try to apply for loans to consolidate my credit cards and i learned from the customer service that i got a rebates both interest and insurance on my existing loan with them and im just wondering because she mention only about £100 plus on both when i looked thru the copy of documents on my loan is that i am paying more than £2000 on both the interest and the PPI.I don't its fair when i can actually as you said here that i can claim more than what they have given. You think i need to write them or shall i wait for them to write me because its only less than a week.
On the other hand, my husband also send a letter last week the same as me to Halifax as he got an existing loan with them also and they did call us after a day when they did receive the letter and said that they will contact him with regards to the claims he made.
So far so good, and it seemed that there is hope.
I will keep you posted for any reply what so ever.

I'm sure I'm being gormless (had a stressful morning!) but is there a template letter I can send? I've sent the first one but now want one I can send with copies of my old bank statements to make it clear what I want (i.e repayment of PPI with 8% interest AND taking the PPI and 8% off the outstanding loan).

    Thanks.

Hey everyone, just had it confirmed that the refund I'm being offered is the value of the premiums, plus contractual interest at 20% plus the 8% statutory rate. Certainly happy that this puts me back in the same position as if I'd never taken out the PPI cover way back in the day......................

Keep going people - and ask for all interest payments to be made good.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hi There - I wonder if anyone can help

Back in January I used a template letter from this site to request my paperwork to find out how much the PPI on my loan/s was.
In Feb i got a reply saying along the lines of "we cannot safely conclude that you were sold the policy in line with your current needs.... a full refund with interest will be with you within 6-8 weeks"

Great i thought! I hadnt even asked for a refund yet, just the paperwork!

Nothing appeared! So after 20 weeks (start of August) I sent another letter saying i hadnt received anything. I got a standard offer letter back offering me £1,4044.

I was thrilled (obviously) but without them having sent me my paperwork i didnt know if this was a valid offer or not. So I wrote back saying I couldnt accept or reject the offer as i didnt have the paperwork.

They wrote again, 2 days later, with the details. But now im confused!

Basically, I took one loan around 2004 and in 2006 I took another one, at a better rate but still with HFC to pay off the original loan.
Then in 2008 I was made redundant and used the reduncy monty to pay off the loan in full.

The offer that they made to me of £1,4044 was detailed to say that it was based on the several payments i had made on the 2004 loan, and then the several payments i had made on the 2006 loan.

(Is this making sense to anyone?)

So because i paid them both off early does that mean i am still entitled to claim back the full amount of PPI added to both loans?

Is there anywhere I can go to sit down and go through the paperwork with someone, independant of HFC, so I know how much to actually put in the letter when i write back? The amounts on the loan agreements are so confusing!

Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks
    Sharon - deeply confused!
