PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Please could someone look at my thread? I am trying to claim back PPI on a loan but it is complicated in that I didn't make every loan payment so the loan was taken into collections.
(It was with HSBC then there in-house collections company, MCS)
It seems simple enough to get the PPI element back from the payments I made to HSBC and they have sent me a letter saying they will pay those back. But I would like the element of the debt that is PPI reimbursed as well. Hope that makes sense!

I am no expert at this but would imagine that you would still be eligible to claim the PPI back. However any arears that you may owe on the loan would be deducted from the money you get refunded back to you.;) Good luck anyway.x0 -
Hi All,
Just to let you know that I have finally received a letter from Deloitte confirming that they have my claim and will be processing it ‘shortly’. I am claim number 221, but I’m not sure if that means anything!
I truly cannot believe the lack of information that is available. In over 2 and a half years I have had 3 letters about this case and the rest of the information I have had to phone for or find on this forum. Can they really still not give a timescale?!?!
Hang in there everyone! The end is in sight0 -

Thats good news Halpin. I too can not beleive the lack of information we have been given and have relied upon this forum to find out whats been happening. We shouldn't have to keep calling them they should be keeping us upto date. Thanks for the update. I would think it would be well worth Dialysis giving them a call to ensure her claim is priority.X

Dear pinknico and Di,
Many thanks for your answer to my questions, it is much appreciated. I will certainly keep you posted, seems like there is a lot of lovely moral support on here!
Onwards and upwards :-)

Thanks for your swift reply!
Do you think the PPI I DID pay would be re-paid to me then the PPI on the loan (still in collections, half paid off) would be knocked off the remaining loan?
It doesn't matter really, I just want to word a letter to HSBC and don't know what is a sensible claim.

Dear all,
Another quick question - when using the initial template #1, there are various reasons. Now it seems to me, that (1) I have been in the position where it was implied that I wouldn't get the loan without taking out PPI and (2) the person selling it me was pushy. When you write that initial letter, has anyone used more than one reason? I mean it seems to me that it is sufficient that I was made to feel that I wouldn't get the loan/credit card without taking out their expensive PPI but does it help to labout the point, as it were?
Many thanks again for your help!

Hi Ali
What ever reasons occur to you then you write them all.
For instance, they more or less said you had to take it out in condition of being accepted for the loan.
The adviser was pushy.
You may have had other reasons as well, you were not given the option then.
If you were sold these so called "Single Polices", these are a complaint on their own, as they are very costly and you would be paying out for example a loan over 10 years, where the PPI was then only for 5 years, you would still be paying out for the life of the loan.
Let us know if you require any help with this, you will find useful information with templates and a mis selling checklist reasons etc.

Any PPI you have paid should be refunded to you plus 8% stat interest. (Make sure you state this in your letter) I do not think they can refund the rest of the PPI if it was part of your loan repayment and you have not paid it. However they should deduct this from the balance of your loan if this was front loaded. Have a look at the template letters for reclaiming. I think Di has left a link on the above thread. It may help you reword.
I hope this helps a bit0 -
Awesome Di, thanks so much.
First round of letters going off today ... fingers crossed!
Cheers,
Ali0
