PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

  • Hi

Not sure if anyone can help but its worth a try!

We took out a loan with A & L in August 2008. Woman on the phone was really persistent re PPI even tho we told her we had sufficient life insurance etc to cover. In the end we were under the impression that without it the loan could not proceed.
So, I got the template letter and sent it off. Got a letter from them a couple of weeks later telling me they were looking into the claim and then on Saturday got a further letter telling me they had listened to the phonecall and did not feel they were in the wrong so no refund would be issued. They did however offer that I cancel the PPI if I wanted to and if i had any further issues they enclosed a copy of the FSA complaints brochure should i want to go to them.

Obviously I expected them tosay no first off but do I still have a case seeing as they have said I should go straight to the FSA (No need for letter template no.2) and that they listened to the phonecall. I know we would never have taken the insurance if they hadnt made us feel like it were compulsory.....HELP!

    Thanks very much
  • Hello all,

In relation to my PPI with Northern Rock (mentioned quite a bit earlier in this post - p268ish), I got my ex-boss (solicitor) to take up my case - which comes to fruition (I hope) today... Court hearing sometime today. Am cacking it (sorry if I cant use that word MSE). I'll let you know how I get on when I get a letter in the post. I'm a bit concerned as the papers that I have seen in relation to my case all seem favourable, but the last letter I received mentioned '..you do have insurance if you dont succeed' - which doesn't breed confidence. Fingers crossed...
Spare change tin in force this year!
    NRAM PPI : £6022.56 - WIN! :j
    LLOYDS PPI : £4684.66 - WIN! :j
My Pearl of Wisdom : Don't be scared to say "I can't afford it", or "I'm skint" to anything... If you're lucky, you'll still be able to do what you want, just find a different way -and if you can't, you don't need it anyway! :p
  • Hi all, I have sent my letter off to Barclaycard and they've sent a form back to me asking me to fill this in, it's the same information that I've already provided do I still reply to this?
    Thanks a lot!

Hi I currently have a ppi claim against Central Capital, now with FOS,I was just wondering if anyone knows a rough timescale of how long you have to wait for an adjudicator?I have recieved a letter from FOS to say that they are waiting for a response fron CC & to be passed to an adjudicator? Is this likely to take a year or more?Any response appreciated!!!!Thanks!!:p

    Hi Loftty
I don't say to be very good with calculations but I think each payment is including the interest to be paid.

if you multiply each payment you will find they are all different to what it states as the interest is added.
I think the difference between the £2884.80 and £2203.09 of £681.71 is the interest you have paid on the ppi.

    Loan amount -£7650 -168.03 = £10081.18
    Loan amount -£2350 -50.19 = £3014.14

    Total payable - £15980.74 60 payments at £266.30 = £15978

your first or last payment would be adjusted to make up the small difference.

    Think this is correct
I will check it again, but see if it makes any sense to you

I'm sure someone else on the site will be a lot more accurate than me;)

    xx

    Thank you for your reply.

So if the £681 is interest should I be get this back aswell?

    Regards,

    Loftty

Hello all Picture claimants waiting patiently!:D

I rang Deloitte today and "processing your claim shortly " means seeing if we have a claim. If we do they should let us know and then compensation will follow.

So they are not calculating at the moment but are dealing with the oldest claims so these are dealt with as speedily as possible but the lovely lady I spoke to has no idea on what, when, who or where we will hear anything.

Keep smiling Picture buddies, we will get there!;)

Hi beaniebabe, thanks for getting back, it is so confusing:confused:Was the claim form an FOS one or one that the FSCS sent out.
At least if it was sent in July you should be one of the first ones to be sorted;)
Hopefully you will hear something from deloitte tomorrow. I am going to give them a call and so in pinknico.
    xx
    Thanks Bushbyh
The claim form was a FOS one. I remember receiving a letter from the FOS informing me that they had passed it onto the FSCS. I contacted the FSCS at that time but they informed me they had not received it and that files were being sent to them by the FOS in batches. I kept checking and after about a month the FSCS had received them.
Keep me informed what the FSCS say when you call them today. Postman hasn't been yet so fingers crossed!! X
