  • Does anyone have the telephone number to get through to customer services. I have tried the one on the website but whoever eventually picks up doesn't put you thru only takes a message. I had a number but they seem to have discontinued it. It was 0800 793 4393
    Thanks in advance

No still unobtainable signal. Rang them on the number on their website, again I wasn't put thru to the complaint's department and the go between initially told me that as it was with FOS they wouldn't talk to me. When I explained that EGG had (on this card) agreed to settle on a goodwill basis but I had not heard what that settlement was going to be, that was 8 weeks ago, I would have thought that I should have had something from them by now. I know they say it can take upto 12 weeks until payment, but don't they have to inform you how much, how they work it out and how they will pay you before that time? If any one knows, can they let me know please. Maybe I'm just being inpatient or even impatient -- you can tell i work in a hospital.

    Hi there, "oh dear"........:o lol.

If this is being dealt with by the FOS, they should be able to get hold of the calculations on your behalf.
I would contact the FOS and tell them you just want a figure.

I know EGG etc would have to provide you with a breakdown of calculations, but this is when its paid out to what I know of, but you do have a right to know the amount.

Hope you get somewhere with this, good luck.;)

Thanks Di. I've emailed the adjudicator, so hopefully he'll get back to me tomorrow. I'll let you know what he says.

  • In January I contacted A&L for a settlement figure on my loan and discovered that I was paying PPI which I knew I had refused at the time. I wrote to A&L asking them to investigate this and they replied making me a settlement offer which I accepted. I was clear that I wanted to use the refund of PPI plus funding of my own to repay the loan in full but was told that they had to set me up a new loan, send me the refund of the PPI and that providing I repaid the loan before the 1st payment was due there would be no interest charge-simple! The new loan papers came out by return of post but we are now in May and still no sign of the PPI repayment... I need the refund (nearly £1000) to be able to pay the loan off but clearly now I have had to make repayments so interest charges on the loan apply. I have contacted A&L on numerous occasions but just go round and round with each department blaming the other. The only written communication I have had since I accepted their settlement figure, is a series of letters saying that I may have been mis-sold PPI and would I like to make a claim. Is there a time limit for them to make the repayment within or could this drag on for years. Had I know it was going to take this long I wouldn't have accepted their offer because I did that on the understanding that I would pay the loan off immediately and not be paying interest for how ever long it takes to sort out ...I feel really cheated by them once again.

Hi there I see your point here.

You could write to them with your own timescale if you want to, and tell them if you hear nothing or if nothing resolved, you will take this complaint to the finanical ombudsman service (FOS) with the evidence you do have on your case for them to take over to investigate.

In regards of timescales of paying out refunds, I know some are waiting for up to 12 weeks even longer, due to the amount of payouts they are undertaking at present.

However, why don't you call the FOS anyway by telephone, explain your situation and see what they suggest, this way they will also be aware of your situation, in case you do end up going this direction, good luck.;)

Received an email from the FSCS today from an email I sent them.

    Dear Mrs

Thank you for your email of 6 April 2009 about your claim for compensation against Twopart Ltd.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) must consider all claims in line with our rules, as set by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Under these rules, before we can consider the eligibility of an investor’s claim against a firm, we must first be satisfied that the firm in question is financially unable to meet the claims that have been brought against it. We can only consider a claim for compensation if no other party is in a position to do so.

We are currently investigating the solvency position of Twopart Ltd to decide whether we can declare the firm to be ‘in default’ under our rules (i.e. we are satisfied that it is unable, or likely to be unable, to meet the claims against it). This opens the way for us to pay compensation to those investors who have eligible claims against the firm.

Once our investigation into the solvency position of the firm is complete, and if we are able to declare Twopart Ltd‘in default’, we will then go on to consider the specific facts of your claim to decide whether we can compensate you under our rules.

It is difficult to give an exact timescale as to when we will be in a position to write to you about your claim. Reviews into the solvency of firms are, by their very nature, time consuming, as we are dependent on receiving information from third parties, over whom we have no jurisdiction. As soon as these investigations are finalised we will contact you again.

Should you have any questions in the meantime, please telephone our helpline on 020 7892 7300.

    Yours sincerely
