I have today had a letter from Capital one up holding my complaint re PPI
Premiums £5420.54
Interest £78.75
Additional 8% interest £1969.46
Total amount £7468.75
Calculations date from Jan 2003 cancelled April 2008
I have spoken to capital one who claim there is no interest charged on PPI! Now would this be correct as when i had a claim with MBNA the interest redress was as much as the premiums paid.
If someone know the correct answer this would be great don't want to sell myself short on the money front lol

Hi can anyone help me, my husband purchased a car from Available Car and we were asked if we wanted PPI Insurance we said no we would sort our own out, so he ticked in his paperwork that it was not needed (we have a copy). about a month later 19.00 started going out of the bank, so he rang up and we found out it was PPI. by this time my husband started to have trouble with his knee's so we decided to keep it incase he had to have time off. well 3 1/2 years later my husband went into hospital for a op for his knee with up to 6 months off work. so we decided to claim and after 3 months they have go back to us saying they will not payout on the claim because they say that he started with the problem before we took out the PPI (even though we did not want it). Have we got a case of mis-sold due to the fact we said we didn't want it or the fact they say he had the problem with his knee before we took PPI out.
can someone help please.
Look here for other reasons for mis sell too.

I just have my data protection paperwork through and on the original paperwork, I opted out of the PPI but they have still charged me PPI. As a newbie, am I just claiming back the PPI or can I claim interest too? x0

Hi,
can anyone explain how I go about paying HMRC the the tax I owe them on the 8% statutory tax I got back from PPI complaints - Is it just a matter of phoning them and what % will they take?
Thanks0 -

Hello,
Can someone help me please?
I think I may have a claim for my PPI but i'm not 100% sure on where I stand. I took out a loan with Santander in 2009 with PPI which I have since paid off. I think that the PPi was mis-sold on the basis that the actual nuture of the policy was never fully explained to me but more importantly that through my employer I would have been entitled to sick pay for 12 months and so the PPI would have been no use to me if i had been on longer term sick absence.
Where do I stand?
Thanks Mel0 -
Hello
I put in a claim to Welcome Finance last August and shortly after received a letter asking questions about who I spoke to and where I signed the policy etc. I told them as much as I could remember but heard no more.
I have telephoned them today to check on progress and I was told that as my claim is an E1 claim (ie policy purchased through a broker) it is on hold pending further clarification as to whether Welcome are responsible for the misselling or not. This is clearly a delaying tactic, but in the meantime is there anything I can do apart from wait?:(0 -
Hi,
I have made a complaint with Lloydstsb on a credit card that I took out in 1995. I used it for years paying PPI. I stopped using it because I found it impossible to stop the PPI and it was costing me a percentage every month.
My comoplaint has been upheld and they agree it was missold! Hiowever the departments records only go back about 7 years and they see nothing on there to show I paid it.... therefore I have no claim!!
They said that i may have paid before but I have to go to the credut card department and get the proof and send it to them and then they will pay it!
LTSB want £6 per statement, even though they can go in and see it they refuse....even in light of them admitting wrongdoing! SOme of the statements will be 15 years old? I cannot remember how much I paid and £6 may be more than the PPI! I paid a percentage of the balance every month, even though I paid it in full every month!
Even the credit card employee said that it would be silly to keep paper statements that long for security reasons.
Is this the norm? Should I ombudsman this or try to appeal to their better judgement? It is going to cost me about £800 just to get the statements they refuse to look at!
Any ideas or experience? FANKS!!!!!!0 -

Hi marvin and welcome to mse, let me save you 6 months worth of emails letters and hassle, i had this exactly from LTSB, emails flying backwards and forwards, sar's and letters, emails to the credit card dept, emails to the ceo etc, all a waste of time, fos this marvin don't waste your time with them you'll end up fossing this anyway in the end so you might as well do this sooner than later and get in the queue.0
