  • Hi,

I went on a debt management plan with Payplan in 2004 and have now paid off over £35000 in debts due to loans and credit cards. Would I still be able to make a claim against the following companies and how do I do it?

HSBC - Still currently bank with them but have a difference bank account number.
    Capital one
    GE Capital
    Marks and Spencer Loans
    MBNA
    Choice Catalogue
    Argos Additions Direct
    Barclay Card

    Thanks

Hi kazziebon yes you can do the reclaims as long as you have your reasons for misale ,find out your account info then just put a fos questionairre in for each complaint, it's very easy, don't be tempted to use a claims company, have a good gander at these links and come back if you need anymore help or advice

    Hi,
can anyone explain how I go about paying HMRC the the tax I owe them on the 8% statutory tax I got back from PPI complaints - Is it just a matter of phoning them and what % will they take?

    Thanks

    Hi irnbru74,
Yes just phone them up and tell them the 8% interest figure, if you are a standard 20% tax payer you will lose 20% of the 8% interest, they will either alter your code to spread payment over the remainder of the financial year or as in my case send you a paying in slip for the full amount ;)
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)

Hi I have claimed successfully against 3 companies. However Nationwide are being stubborn...! I had a loan in 2001 but they do not want to know. The FOS are now investigating? Are Nationwide usually like this of has anyone else successfully claimed against them...???? Thanks

Hi all, I received notification from HSBC today that a loan I had with them did have ppi on it but it closed in 2002, they havnt sent any original documents but they have sent a table outlying exactly how much ppi I paid, I'm assuming the easiest thing I can do now is phone them but has anyone heard of a situation like this? What's the likelihood of getting the money back?
  • Hello folks,
I've posted this on another thread but see that some of the better advice resides here so wondered what m'learn'd friends thought of my sorry tale.

In 2003 I met with a mortgage adviser in my local RBS branch on account of the fact I was moving home.
After an hour or so my mortgage was agreed in principle and ultimately finalised.
The 'Adviser' then asked me if I was minded to move my current accot from 'the former' Bank of Scotland to RBS citing the many 'benefits' that RBS customers 'enjoy'.
So, having received a favourable service from said adviser, I move my current account.
I'm then asked about a credit card - we're now 3 hours into the meeting. I'm told by Joe (the adviser) that an RBS credit card offers excellent services for card holders for a 'modest' premium. Such benefits include protection against loss, theft, fault or non-delivery of goods purchased using the card.
Why not says I, everything else is going to RBS, this is fine.
So, for 9 years I have the card and am well aware that the premium is being charged to my statement as 'PAYMENT PROTECTION' which is not unexpected by me given my conversation with Joe.

In October last year I queried the amount of the premium, thinking it a bit excessive given what it covered. Only then am I told that this was for sickness and unemployment in the event I was unable to pay the card. So it strikes me, this is 'PAYMENT PROTECTION' for payments I make to the statement, not payment for purchases that I make using the card.

    So, in goes the claim.

Obviously, it was not upheld and (thankfully for reasons to come) they sent me the original application form with a tick in the box for payment protection.

I say thankfully as on a very basic view of the form it is blatantly obvious that two people have filled in different sections of the form. I completed personal details and the mortgage adviser Joe, it would seem, has completed the rest including, crucially, the section relevant to 'PAYMENT PROTECTION'. The use of the pen, the pressure applied to the paper. It's a no brainer.

Further given that this Joe had considered all of my financial circumstances, as a result of my successful mortgage application and current account transfer on the same day, he knew a couple of other crucial point. At the time I had a 6 month notice period, 6 months full pay when sick, followed by a further 6 months half pay.

Still by claim was rejected by these people. I'm going to the FOS and considering speaking to the Police given it is clear that I never ticked the box.

    A mightily !!!!ed off WorthyCandidate

Ps. Apologies for typos. On the Blackberry.
  • Hi,

    Looking for some advice.

    I had 3 loans with RBS going back to 1994, 95 & 96.

The first one was for £1500 over 12 months paying back £137.81 per month. I paid 8 months then I consolidated it with another loan. I received a loan rebate of £5.82?

The 2nd loan I got was for £1050 and I paid back £98.51 for 12 months. Then the 3rd loan I had was for £1000 & I paid back £93.67 over 12 months.

As the loans are so long ago, the bank cant locate any of the loan agreements so I dont know if I had PPI on these?

Can someone have a look at these figures and tell me what they think?

    Thanks!
